Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell Sing on Soundtrack for Their Holiday Musical 'Spirited'

Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell are gifting fans a new movie this holiday season with Spirited.
The star of the Christmas classic Elf and Deadpool actor will be spreading Christmas cheer in the Apple original film, directed by Sean Anders. Spirited is a modern musical rendition of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol featuring music by Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land and The Greatest Showman's Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
"Singing, dancing and playing in the sandbox with Will Ferrell made a whole lotta dreams come true," Reynolds wrote on Instagram after wrapping production on the movie in 2021.

Is there a trailer for Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell's holiday movie Spirited?
Ferrell and Reynolds showed off their moves in a teaser trailer released on Oct. 12. In the teaser, we see their animated silhouettes tapdancing, followed by live-action dancing and snippets of scenes. In one scene, Ferrell introduces himself as the Ghost of Christmas Present. There's also hints of the music and generally joyous vibe, as well as a hilarious scene in an elevator where Ferrell's character tries to remember Tiny Tim's name. Watch below:
On Nov. 2, 2022, the first full trailer for Spirited dropped. We see Reynolds' character Clint as a bit of a tycoon—but also a bit of a tyrant. Ferrell is a newbie at haunting, and Clint is resistant to his efforts as the Ghost of Christmas Present. We also see that Ferrell's spirit has an adorable crush on Spencer's character (who works with Clint as his executive VP).
What is Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell's holiday movie Spirited about?
Spirited is described as a "modern retelling of Charles Dickens' 1843 novella A Christmas Carol." The film is told from the perspective of the ghosts. According to Apple TV+, "Each Christmas Eve, the Ghost of Christmas Present (Will Ferrell) selects one dark soul to be reformed by a visit from three spirits. But this season, he picked the wrong Scrooge. Clint Briggs (Ryan Reynolds) turns the tables on his ghostly host until Present finds himself reexamining his own past, present and future."
One the first day of shooting the film, Reynolds shared a photo of himself (sporting Apple AirPods) and Ferrell, writing: "Day 1 shooting with one of my comedy idols, Will Ferrell. You'd barely notice this was an @Apple movie! Also iOS 14.6 will begin installing in 7 seconds…"

Will Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell be singing in Spirited?
Reynolds revealed to Collider in 2021 that he and Ferrell kind of underwent "song and dance camp" prior to shooting the musical. Discussing what it was about the script that made him want to do it, he said, "It's a musical for one, which to me was completely unthinkable and terrifying."
Reynolds added, "I think even three or four years ago I probably wouldn't have had the courage to say yes to it, but, you know, I had the time to invest and I think Will as well. We both really had the time to invest in learning, in doing basically song and dance camp, which is kind of what we did for months in advance of shooting and I love learning something new."
