When Robbie Williams' documentary is dropping on Netflix

We love a good celebrity docu-series, delving into the lives of the rich and famous. This year Netflix has been dropping plenty of heartwarming and complex celebrity docu-series, from Pamela Anderson telling her story in her own words in Pamela: A Love Story, to the recent At Home With The Furys giving us an insight into the lives of Tyson Fury and his relatives.

And now we're set for another docu-series as Robbie Williams is confirmed to be sharing his story with Netflix viewers. Here's everything you need to know about his upcoming series.

Sharing a new trailer for the four-part series on YouTube, Netflix wrote, "ROBBIE WILLIAMS... A four-part documentary series which features up to 30 years of never-before-seen archive footage behind the star, coming only to Netflix, 8th Nov.

"Directed by EMMY and BAFTA nominated, Joe Pearlman, and produced by Ridley Scott Associates and executive produced by Academy Award, BAFTA and Grammy winning director Asif Kapadia."

The latest trailer came on 11th October, sharing never seen before archive footage of Robbie, the singer with his family and cut away interviews talking straight to camera:

Previously, a trailer dropped on 28th September, when Netflix posted on X (formerly known as Twitter account) a new trailer for Robbie's documentary.

In the trailer we see plenty of archival footage of Robbie, including one clip in which he says: "I really wish I did something else for a living" moments before he's meant to appear on stage. There's also a clip of him talking to one of his children off camera where he says they can watch the documentary when they're older.

The trailer suggests viewers will be "shocked, appalled, surprised, intrigued, amazed, stunned and aroused." Ok then.

When announcing the news of Robbie's new series, Netflix also shared a smaller teaser trailer of the docu-series.

The trailer features a variety of clips from across Robbie's career and in a voiceover, Robbie is heard saying: "The thing that would destroy me has also made me successful. Big. More. Touch the fire. Touch the button. Push when it says ‘pull’. All of those things have given me my career, but there’s also a detrimental side to it too. Just depends which wolf you feed."

When was Robbie Williams' documentary confirmed?

On 4th September 2023 Netflix confirmed they would be making a yet unnamed four-part docu-series about the life of Robbie Williams at the Edinburgh TV Festival.

They also shared the news on their official X (formerly known as Twitter) account, by giving viewers a first glimpse at what the series will cover, they said: "Here’s your first look at the brand new four-part Robbie Williams documentary. Coming later this year…"

The series will be directed by Joe Pearlman, who previously directed Lewis Capaldi's Netflix documentary Lewis Capaldi: How I'm Feeling.

What is Robbie Williams' Netflix docu-series about?

Robbie Williams' Netflix documentary is set to cover the course of Robbie's 30 year career from his struggles with addiction, to leaving Take That, to the band's reunion.

Using footage from Robbie's archive and in-depth interviews with Robbie, viewers will be taken on a journey of the highs and lows of Robbie's career.
