After a seemingly long dry-spell without a good legal drama to sink our teeth into, The Lincoln Lawyer has come to fix that problem.

The crime drama focuses on Los-Angeles defense lawyer Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), who runs his legal practice from the back of his Lincoln town car – naturally the car's number plate reads NTGUILTY. Season one saw Mickey taking on the case of a video game billionaire who is accused of murdering his wife and her boyfriend after he discovers their bodies. This season was full of twists, legal jargon and a whole lot of comedic anecdotes.

The Netflix show is quickly becoming one of the platforms biggest hits, and I'm sure like all of us, you're wondering just when you can expect season two to drop (especially after that cliffhanger). Here's everything we know about what the future could mean for The Lincoln Lawyer.

Is There Going To Be A Season 2?

Short answer: we don't know yet. Long answer: it's highly likely. Given that the show just landed on May 13, it's simply too soon to tell just when Netflix is planning on renewing the show. However, it's likely that we can expect a second season due to the popularity the show has gotten from its first weekend. Despite having just dropped on May 13, the show is already trailing just behind Ozark as the number two English language show on Netflix from May 9- 15. That means it only had two days to climb up to that ranking. Based on that information alone, it's pretty likely Netflix will chose to renew rather than lose a star show.

What Will Season 2 Focus On?

This too, we can't say for sure. But, we certainly have some guesses. The show was adapted from a book series of the same name by Michael Connelly. The book series currently holds six books and season one of the Netflix series was adapted from the second book in the series, "The Brass Verdict." It's hard to say exactly which book will be adapted next since Netflix doesn't appear to be following the order of the book series, but we can expect the next case to be pulled from one of the Connelly books. Also given the ending to the first season, we can probably expect to dig deeper into questions and storylines that will seemingly be entwined across future seasons – mainly "who the hell is that guy with the tattoo?"

When Can We Expect Season 2?

Unfortunately, this two we can't say for sure. But, taking into consideration Netflix's rollout for past shows and the time it takes to film and release a new season, we're looking at the earliest date being one in 2023.
