Forget Married At First Sight Australia (joking we can't get enough), because Married At First Sight UK is back on our screens this September 2023, and wow are we excited.
The show, which follows couples who try to make a relationship work after meeting for the first time at the altar, will be back soon and we can't wait for more chaos-filled dinner parties and weekly commitment ceremonies. Here's what we else know about the 2023 series so far, from release date to contestants and more.
Married At First Sight UK's release date
Big news: the official Married At First Sight UK Instagram account revealed on the 6th September that the new series was less than two weeks away. OMG. They wrote in the caption, "You are invited to the weddings of the year… #MAFSUK" alongside a text post which read, "Save the date. Ceremonies commence Monday 18th September. RSVP at 9pm on E4."
This follows a similar pattern to previous years. Season six aired on E4 from Monday 30th August 2021, while season seven aired on E4 from the 29th August 2022.
What will happen in Married At First Sight UK season 8?
Expert Paul C. Brunson previously teased a new change for season eight on MAFS UK, with his fellow experts and himself visiting the couples in their apartments for the first time.
Speaking to The Sun, he said that he and fellow experts Mel Schilling and Charlene Douglas will be visiting the brides and grooms at home to share relationship advice.
"You'll see in this series we make visits to their apartments, myself, Charlene and Mel," he said. "This will be the first series that you see all of us make independent visits to their apartments, and group visits to help them along."
Alongside this new change, we'll see our weekly commitment ceremonies and dinner parties with the other couples (and maybe a bit of, er, partner swapping.)
According to E4, "the forthcoming series promises to be bigger and more dramatic than ever before", with reports saying they hope to have more episodes than last season, which featured 30.
What is Married At First Sight UK?
Married At First Sight UK follows participants from all over the country, who sign up to be 'matched' with their ideal partner by a group of experts. Couples are paired up based on their answers to a in-depth questionnaire, and make a long term commitment to each other on their very first meeting.
The show then follows the duo as they go through a series of challenges, like living together for the first time and meeting each other's family and friends, as well as making the weekly decision about whether they want to stay together or leave the experiment.
When was Married At First Sight UK season 8 announced?
Eagle-eyed fans of the show assumed a new series of the show was coming when they spotted the applications page was live, looking for contestants. It read, "Would you marry a stranger? We’re looking for brave singles for potential future series of Married at First Sight UK. In this unique relationship series about married life, a panel of matchmaking experts will be there to help you find the one.
"Please note, due to a high volume of applicants, unfortunately we cannot guarantee that we will be able to get back to everyone, but thank you for taking the time to apply."
Who will star in Married At First Sight UK season 8?
The same hosts and relationship specialists from previous seasons are back, bringing their expertise to the matching process once again. That includes Mel Schilling, Paul C. Brunson and Charlene Douglas.
Then, in early September 2023, the new contestants entering the experiment were revealed, and it's safe to say we're in for a treat.
