Can you believe that Ted Lasso season 3 premieres so soon?!
After Apple TV+ dropped the highly anticipated trailer, basically confirming some of our favorite characters would be returning, it felt like all we could think about was our favorite fictional soccer team (AFC Richmond) and beloved coach (Ted Lasso played by Jason Sudeikis). But now, it seems like the third season of Ted Lasso might just be the last. Cue the tears! In a recent interview with Deadline, Sudeikis hinted at some... bittersweet news. "This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell," he said.
Ted Lasso is, without a doubt, a comedic masterpiece but heartfelt at its core. In fact, if you're a fan of feel-good movies, then Ted Lasso is for you! For this reason, the first two seasons have deemed the series critically acclaimed, amassing millions of fans and numerous awards. (We're talking 40 Emmy nominations and multiple Golden Globe wins!)
Ted Lasso's loyal viewers remember season 2 ending with Nate (Nick Mohammed) backstabbing AFC Richmond and going on to coach with Rupert (Anthony Head). So, you'd assume we'd want to know how this plays out. Read on for everything you need to know about Ted Lasso season 3, including when the series returns, cast news, spoilers, and more.
Is Ted Lasso ending?
We don't know the answer quite yet. Nothing after season 3 has been officially confirmed or denied. However, Jason Sudeikis recently suggested it could be "the end of this story" in an interview with Deadline. "The fact that folks will want more and are curious beyond more than what they don’t even know yet—that being Season 3—it’s flattering."
He went on to say that the show's fans will have to watch how the upcoming season unfolds to see if they still feel like they need more afterwards. So, season 3 of Ted Lasso seems like it may be the last hoorah for the series, but not necessarily the story as a whole!
When posed with the question of potential spinoffs, Sudeikis expressed that he thinks his team has "set the table for all sorts of folks…to get to watch the further telling of these stories.” Deadline reports that Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly (who helped Sudeikis bring the show to life) are all seemingly open to the idea to a spinoff.
When is the Ted Lasso season 3 release date?
Apple TV+ confirmed that Ted Lasso will premiere on Wednesday, March 15! 🙌 So, if you need to brush up on the first two seasons, now's the time! Because we'll be watching our favorite coach on the small-screen once again.
What will season 3 of Ted Lasso be about?
Good question! We know to expect a heated rivalry between Coach Lasso and Nate. (Because—cough, cough... traitor!) But going further, Apple TV+ has described this season as focusing on AFC Richmond, and how they'll face "ridicule as media predictions widely peg them as last in the Premier League."
Who will be in the cast of Ted Lasso season 3?
Though, the official cast has not yet been confirmed—one quick look at the teaser will answer most of this question.
We already know that Jason Sudeikis will return as Ted Lasso. (Because the show wouldn't be what it is without him!) And we've also discussed the news of Nick Mohammed coming back as the infamous Coach Nathan “Nate” Shelley. The rest of the mostly beloved cast is expected to return, too. That means:
Brendan Hunt will return as Coach Beard
Toheeb Jimoh will return as Sam Obisanya
Hannah Waddingham will return as Rebecca Welton
Kola Bokinni will return as Isaac
Juno Temple will return as Keely Jones
