Fans of The Winx Club have long been awaiting a live-action adaptation of the hit animated series and Netflix did not disappoint. Fate: The Winx Saga gives the original series a darker turn thanks to some brand new mysteries that are hidden in the iconic school, Alfea, where our favorite fairies and specialists are taught. The show continues to follow Bloom and her brand new friends, the Winx suite, as they get together to try to find out her past and grow stronger. If you're already done with the show's first season, then you know that there is plenty more to come. So will we be coming back for another season of craziness and fun?
*Major spoilers for season 1 of Fate: The Winx Saga below!*
Here's everything you need to know about Fate: The Winx Saga season 2.
Is Fate: The Winx Saga season 2 happening?
Netflix has officially announced that Fate: The Winx Saga will be coming back for a second season!
Iginio Straffi, creator of the Winx Club and Founder and CEO of Rainbow Group said in a press release, "Winx connects with audiences in the live action adaptation the same way it does in animation. Over the years, we have seen Winx grow into a global phenomenon and millions of fans have faithfully followed the show. Thanks to this loyal support, ‘Fate: The Winx Saga’ is a massive worldwide success, with a second season underway at Netflix that will continue the story to the delight of fans and viewers everywhere."
Who will be coming back for season two?
Along with news of a new season, Netflix confirmed that all of our favorite Winx Suite members will be back. So far, Abigail Cowen as Bloom, Hannah van der Westhuysen as Stella, Precious Mustapha as Aisha, Eliot Salt as Terra and Elisha Applebaum as Musa, are all set to come back.
When will Fate: The Winx Saga season 2 start filming?
The show is set to return to filming later in 2021 in Ireland, where they originally filmed the first season.
How many episodes will season two have?
In a nice upgrade, Netflix revealed that season two will have eight episodes, instead of the six that season 1 had.
Showrunner Brian Young revealed, "The six episodes in season one only scratched the surface of this incredibly rich world and the powerful fairies who inhabit it. As Bloom's story continues to evolve, I can't wait for you to learn even more about Aisha, Stella, Terra, and Musa! And you never know who might show up at Alfea next term…"
Will we get to learn more about some character's backgrounds in season 2?
Even though Fate: The Winx Saga hasn't been renewed for a second season just yet, the cast is already hoping for another one so we can see more of their characters.
"I hope so! I hope if there is, we get to find out a bit more about Beatrix's past because I'd love to know what happens," Sadie Soverall, who plays Beatrix, told 1883 Magazine.
Meanwhile, Elisha Applebaum says season two might show us a little more about Musa and even the types of things she listens to as she deals with everyone else's emotions.
"If there’s going to be a season two, that is definitely something I will have to remember and take into that because she softens up throughout. I think it is nice that she has this meditative, soft music, because it is her inside," she revealed to Brief Take.
Would we see any other The Winx Club members appear?
Some fans were upset to see some of their favorite Winx Club members not make an appearance in Fate: The Winx Saga. However, you don't have to count them out completely. In an interview with The Wrap, star Abigail Cowen revealed that she could totally see some of the OG Winx girls come back.
"If we are lucky enough to get a second season, I think Flora would be brought in and I would definitely welcome that," she said. "I’m not a part of the casting process, but I do think, if the series does go to a second season, I think hopefully these concerns are something that can be addressed, because I do think diversity both in front of and behind the camera is vital and much-needed throughout the industry and internationally. So I think it’s important that we are having these conversations."
What will Fate: The Winx Saga season 2 be about?
The second season will no doubt follow our favorite fairies and specialists as they continue to train at Alfea. Now that Rosalind is back and she killed Headmaster Dowling, changes are definitely coming to the school. Not to mention that Queen Luna and Solaria now seem to be running things behind the scenes so these kids are going to be prepared for an even bigger war than anything they imagined.
Meanwhile, Sky will have to deal with Silva's arrest for "attempting to kill" his dad and his father's mysterious reappearance. Bloom will no doubt do anything to find out more about who she really is. And who can forget the fact that same of our favorite Winx Club members are still missing. Will we finally get to see Flora and Techna join the group? Here's hoping we do!
When will Fate: The Winx Saga season 2 be released?
If the show gets a pretty fast pickup and Netflix continues on its usual schedule, then we can hopefully see it return a year later in January 2022.
