By now, you've probably watched all of All American season 3 and are getting ready to binge it again on Netflix. If you're a superfan of The CW's popular teen football drama, you're in luck.
Earlier this month, one of the episodes for All American season 3 actually doubled as a pilot (called a "backdoor pilot" in the industry) for a new spinoff show with a character named Simone. Expect a new sport, but the same teen drama you know and love.
For those who need a refresher, Simone is Jordan's love-interest throughout the show. She tricked Jordan into thinking he was the father of her child since her child's actual father was absent. In the season 2 finale, Simone and Jordan officially start dating, and in the third season, it's revealed the two got married in Vegas! When will All American: Homecoming premiere?
The show was just announced during season 3 of All American, so there's no date just yet. Seeing as the official announcement was made back in February, according to Variety, viewers can anticipate the first season to come sometime in 2022.
Who is in the cast of All American: Homecoming?
Six people have already been cast in the upcoming spinoff, including Geffri Maya of course, who plays Simone. Actors Peyton Alex Smith, Cory Hadrict, Kelly Jenrette, Sylvester Powell, Netta Walker and Camille Hyde are also in the series. All have been featured in various well-known shows, including Handmaid's Tale, 90210, and The Chi.
What will All American: Homecoming be about?
According to Deadline, Homecoming will follow tennis player Simone (Maya) and baseball player Damons Sims (Smith) as they navigate college sports and young adulthood at an historically Black college.
The two non-collegiate adults cast so far in the show are Hadrict, who will play Sims' coach, and Jenrette, who will play Simone's aunt and a popular professor at the school. Powell, Walker and Hyde play as various students Simone and Damons befriend and find themselves at odds with throughout the series.
