As of this Wednesday, the co-chairs of the Met Gala have officially been announced—a reminder that fashion's biggest night is once again approaching and soon to boast its star-studded guest list and extravagant theme.

The Costume Institute Benefit, more familiarly known as the Met Gala, will take place this year on Monday, May 1, at its annual location—the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City—where top celebrities will make another grand return to the museum's famed steps, serving their latest installment of grand looks.

Unlike last year's broader "Gilded Glamour" dress code, 2023's theme pays direct homage to a figure: the late German designer Karl Lagerfeld. But as is standard with the glamorous event, celebrity attendees are likely to still surprise in ensembles showcasing more obscure and open-ended takes (if not departing from the theme altogether).

Ahead, see all we know so far about this year's "Oscars of Fashion," including the annual fundraiser's anticipated co-chairs and attendees, dress code and theme, as well as how you can tune in from home.

Who are the hosts?

Dua Lipa has been named one of this year's co-chairs alongside actress Penélope Cruz, screenwriter Michaela Coel, and tennis star Roger Federer, per an official announcement on January 18. "See you for the First Monday in May #CostumeInstitute Benefit," Lipa wrote on Instagram.

What is the theme?

This year's theme, "In honor of Karl," dedicates itself to the legacy of Chanel's late creative director Karl Lagerfeld. We can expect celebrities to show out in a slew of modern and vintage looks created by the German designer throughout his 65-year career.

The theme is pegged to the Costume Institute Benefit's spring exhibition, "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," which runs from May 5 to July 16 and is set to showcase approximately 150 of Lagerfeld's pieces, alongside his corresponding design sketches that glimpse the intricate creative process behind his collaborations with Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, and, of course, Chanel.

Who is attending?

Among the celebrities anticipated to attend this year are Chanel darlings and longtime ambassadors Margot Robbie, Lily-Rose Depp, Kristen Stewart, and Margaret Qualley.

The full Kardashian–Jenner family is also likely to show out like last year, along with the gala's A-list mainstays: Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Rihanna, the Hadids, and the Biebers. And Zendaya, who tapped out of the event for the last two years, may make an appearance this time around.

How can I tune in?

The event will be streamed on Vogue's official website and Twitter page starting at 6 p.m. ET. (If you want to attend in person, tickets begin at more than $30,000.)
