We all know the worst part about cooking is doing the dishes. Honestly, there are days that cleanup makes us want to throw the cookbook out the window and order takeout. But what if you could cut the kitchen mess to just one pan?

Well, good news: British chef, activist and television star Jamie Oliver has answered our kitchen complaints with his new cookbook, "One: Simple One-Pan Wonders," which hits U.S. shelves Tuesday.

"I wanted to make this book the most user-friendly book that I've ever written," says Oliver, who has also written such cookbooks as "5 Ingredients: Quick & Easy Food" and "Jamie's 15-Minute Meals."

To do that, Oliver researched how people are living and what they're buying post-pandemic.

"I came up with this genius revelation that people hate washing up," he quips. "I thought that having one vessel, one tray, one pan was the way to go keeping the ingredients minimal."

The book includes more than 120 recipes for no-fuss meals, all of which consist of eight or fewer ingredients to minimize prep while avoiding compromising on satisfaction or flavor.

With chapters focused on "Veggie Delights," "Celebrating Chicken," "Fabulous Fish," "Frying Pan Pasta" and "Batch Cooking" Oliver has shared a mix of recipes sure to please any at-home chef regardless of experience level.

And having simple ingredients can be a major win too. Convenience, Oliver found in his research, often trumps price – but with the economic climate which has included rising food prices, it's going to be important for at-home cooks to consider both factors.

"So at the moment, you know, both the U.K. and America, we've got a time where cost of food is challenging, and your time is challenging – and the power of not wanting to wash up is very, very strong," he says.

Oliver's "One" can help with that – especially if you hit that midweek cooking slump.

" 'One' is definitely a cookbook for every level and cook and I'm really proud of that," he says, adding in the book's intro, "I think the food in this book will inspire every level of cook, from those of you just starting out on your culinary journey to the most experienced of chefs because these recipes celebrate ease."
