It goes without saying, but the hallmark of a good soundtrack is good music. When you have a show about a (fictional) great band, well, the music better be good. Luckily, for Daisy Jones & The Six—Prime Video's new TV adaptation of the bestselling Taylor Jenkins Reid book of the same name—both the fictional music (from the titular band and others) and the real-world music used (from artists like Carole King) is, well, really good. It's a show about rock 'n' roll, and, mission accomplished, you'll probably spend a good bit of time rocking and rolling while watching.

It helps that the project was so committed to the music aspects of things. Stars Riley Keough and Sam Claflin really learned to sing and perform on stage. It also helps that the songs are, you know, good. That doesn't happen by accident; the team involved with the music are seasoned professionals, and they brought in a trio of music star ringers (including Jackson Browne, Marcus Mumford, and Phoebe Bridgers) to collaborate and co-write songs.

We'd also recommend going back and watching some live performances from the era that Daisy Jones & The Six is emulating. Keough and Claflin are electric on stage, but you'll appreciate it even more when looking at the kind of energy that Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham really had when performing songs like "The Chain" back in the day. Claflin also looked to Bruce Springsteen for inspiration: "The energy that that man had on a stage…there’s no other like him—especially in his earlier years," he told Men's Health. "I really wanted to capture that element." So it wouldn't hurt to check out some old videos of The Boss to see where Billy Dunne is coming from.

Can I buy the Daisy Jones & the Six album Aurora?

You can! In the world of Daisy Jones & The Six, the album Aurora is what shot the titular band into a new stratosphere of fame. The show created the whole album from scratch, with Keough and Claflin really singing, accompanied by some songs written by top-notch writers and world-class musicians playing behind them. The show also wasted no resources on music, as producer/songwriter Blake Mills was joined by talented music star co-writers such as Marcus Mumford, Phoebe Bridgers, and Jackson Browne.

Aurora is available both to stream (on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music) and in a limited-edition Orange vinyl for fans to purchase and spin at home like the good old days.
