The Ever-Evolving Style of Boy Bands

Boy bands—a time-honored tradition, in which boys on the cusp of manhood sing to and about girls—have always had a very specific relationship to style. The entire shtick of a boy band is to approximate some sort of female fantasy, which means their clothes tend to be a management team’s idea of what would be attractive to their fan base. Sometimes they succeed. Often they confuse. Generally, they match. Though The Osmonds look pretty different from One Direction, for the most part, the more things change, the more the boys stay the same.
