The Go-To Netflix Guide for All Your Valentine’s Day Streaming Needs
Bring on the cuddles, sapsters. Whether it’s your boo or your crew, Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to act mushy toward the people you love. Maybe you want to host a themed Valentine's Day party with all your besties. Maybe you want to give a special V-Day gift to your S.O. or bestie before spending the night on the couch with a very large bottle of wine. Or maybe you just want to cry alone into a pint of Häagen-Dazs that technically isn’t a single serving while watching Valentine's Day movies. Totally up to you, and all very valid V-Day experiences.
Fortunately, Netflix has something for all your streaming needs, whatever those may be. We’ve compiled some of the sweetest, sappiest movies that’ll make you feel all the feels. We've also got some *deep* dramas, some LOL-worthy rom-coms, and some old classics that all happen to have at least a sprinkling of romance to give you variety in your streaming experience. And, let me just get this warning out of the way right now: You might want to keep a box of tissues nearby, 'cause sometimes the greatest love stories don’t have happy endings. The emotional roller coaster is REAL.

1. Your Place or Mine
Despite what the press tour would have you believe, this rom-com (which revolves around platonic besties played by Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher who decide to swap houses for a week) is actually v fun.
2. Falling for Christmas
Lindsay Lohan making her acting comeback in a sweet romcom with Chord Overstreet?? Say less, and put it on your TV immediately!! Make this a trilogy somehow, pls.
3. Call Me by Your Name
It's a classic, so if you've never watched this beautiful and (spoiler alert) heartbreaking movie, you're in for a treat. Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer have some of the best onscreen chemistry—ever.
4. You People
Starring Jonah Hill and Lauren London, this rom-com follows two millennials as they fall for each other despite their v different backgrounds, and it's well worth the watch just for all the fantastic cameos (rumored CGI kiss be damned).
5. Love Hard
This is for everyone who's still trying to use dating apps: Who knew that getting catfished could turn into a (surprisingly cute) rom-com? And you won't be sad to have Nina Dobrev and Jimmy O. Yang flirting on your screen.
6. Disobedience
The film's certainly not a rom-com, and it covers some fascinating aspects of the Orthodox Jewish community. But at its core, it's a steamy illicit romance between childhood friends/lovers Ronit (Rachel Weisz) and Esti (Rachel McAdams). And it's definitely worth a watch.
7. The Last Letter From Your Lover
Based on the bestselling book, this is a time-jumping romance between a hot extramarital affair and the reporter reading their secret letters decades later, wondering what happened to them. Trust us, the twists are wild.
8. A Whisker Away
This Japanese animated film has a fun/fascinating premise: A girl who's secretly in love with her school crush (been there!) gets the chance to turn into a cat and become his beloved pet (...have not been there, but cool!).
9. The Princess Switch
You probably know about this silly, silly movie. But you probably also know that watching Vanessa Hudgens fall in love, twice, is the fluffy fun rom-com you need when you've had a hard day.
10. The Age of Adeline
Adeline (Blake Lively) has been perpetually 29 for...a while now, so that makes life and love pretty complicated. Even more complicated, she falls for hot men (Michiel Huisman, Harrison Ford) and then somehow has to explain—or not—why she can't do a long-term relationship.
11. Let It Snow
Based on a YA novel, this is the kind of ensemble comedy that's actually good (sorry to anyone who loves New Year's Eve). A bunch of high school students get snowed in, and feelings are discovered! You get it!
12. If Beale Street Could Talk
This one's a darker, more serious watch, but the love between Tish and Fonny (KiKi Layne and Stephan James) stays strong despite injustice and suffering—and it's an intensely gorgeous movie.
13. 365 Days
You probably already know this, but we'll say it regardless: The beginning premise of the movie is not great (a guy kidnaps a woman and gives her a year to fall in love with him). The real reason you probably know about it, though, is that it has some of the hottest sex scenes in recent memory. Sometimes it's what ya need.
14. Loving
History buff couples, look alive! This film about an interracial marriage that went all the way to the Supreme Court is quietly romantic with two ace performances from Ruth Negga and Joel Edgerton.
15. Single All the Way
Michael Urie stars in this holiday rom-com, which centers on a perpetually single man who convinced his friend to pretend to be his boyfriend for the holidays. The problem: His meddling mom already has plans to set him up on a blind date with someone else.
16. Dumplin’
This coming-of-age movie is about more than just romance—mothers and daughters, beauty pageants, and Dolly Parton, to start—and it's one that you'll remember long after watching, trust.
17. The DUFF
Honestly? Of all the 2010s teen romantic comedies, this one is lowkey underrated. It’s a little bit My Fair Lady and a little bit Easy A.
18. Holidate
Two single strangers who have a mutual dislike for holidays decide to be each other’s plus-one for every major occasion throughout the year. Of course, this includes Valentine’s Day. If you, too, hate being single around the holidays and being stuck at the kids’ table, you’ll appreciate this one.
19. Falling Inn Love
This rom-com stars Christina Milian as a city girl who leaves her home in San Francisco behind after a breakup to relocate to New Zealand, where an inn that she won through a contest awaits. The problem: The inn is a wreck—but luckily, a handsome contractor will help her mend the inn (as well as her heart). Aww.
20. When We First Met
If the friend zone is a category you fall into far too often, you’ll feel this movie deep in your soul. But TBH, it’ll also probably make you feel better about being friend-zoned by your desired lover in the end, so there’s that!
21. Someone Great
This whirlwind of a love story turned breakup film (and about finding yourself after a painful breakup) is best watched with a group of girlfriends. And wine. Lots of wine. Oh, and grab some tissues while you’re at it.
22. Always Be My Maybe
There’s nothing better than a good, lighthearted reunion flick. Centered on two former flames who meet again 15 years later, it’s a great way to reflect on how people change over time and if you can deny an obvious connection. Spoiler: You can’t. Also, Keanu Reeves shows up, so you know it’ll be worth it.
23. Ibiza: Love Drunk
You know when you watch a movie on a wine night with your friends but everyone’s talking over it and you’re sad that you’re missing what is probably a very good film? Well…Ibiza is the solution to that problem. It’s definitely funny, but it doesn’t require your full attention.
24. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
Do you feel like experiencing every single human emotion in the span of an hour and 39 minutes? Well, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the movie for you! But with your Noah Centineo obsession, you probably already knew that.
25. The Perfect Date
Speaking of Noah Centineo! He also stars in this one as Brooks Rattigan, a high school student trying to raise funds for college by creating a dating app that sells himself as a nonthreatening plus-one for women to bring along to a variety of occasions. And ofc, he unexpectedly starts to fall for one of his clients.

If you’ve already seen TATBILB too many times to count but you still feel like crying over an adorable story about young love, watch The Kissing Booth IMMEDIATELY.
27. Our Souls at Night
Robert Redford and Jane Fonda star in this one as a widow and widower who have lived next door to each other for years, but who one day decide to alleviate their shared loneliness by sharing a bed. Needless to say, the platonic element of their relationship doesn't last long.
28. Ali's Wedding
Ali's Wedding tells the story of the titular Ali, a charismatic and musically-talented son of a cleric who is forced to choose between the woman he loves and the woman he's already been promised to at his father's mosque while also trying to convince his dad that he's doing well enough in school to become a doctor (spoiler: he's not).
29. The Incredible Jessica James
Jessica Williams stars in this one as a struggling playwright who falls for a charming divorced app developer while still reeling over her own bad breakup, and she is 100 percent the girl power icon you need in your life.
30. Set It Up
In 2018, the rom-com genre breathed new life thanks to films like Set It Up, starring Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell as two assistants who hatch a plan for their bosses to fall in love.
31. Happy Anniversary
It may not be light and breezy, but Happy Anniversary is a refreshing look at what happens after the meet-cute is over. In it, a couple played by Ben Schwartz and Noël Wells must experience the highs and lows that come with long-term relationships, and it's oh-so relatable.
32. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Choosing between two equally hot men isn’t exactly the worst problem to have, but you can still empathize with Lily James’s struggle. Will she choose the wealthy American man or the sweet British lad? You’ll have to watch and see!
33. The Half of It
This is one of those classic "girl tries to help cute guy friend get the girl" movies, but the twist is that the girl…actually has a crush on the other girl, too. Cute! This melancholy take on Cyrano de Bergerac is the perfect thing for a cozy, rainy Valentine’s Day with a lot of blankets and tea (or wine).
34. Malcolm & Marie
Zendaya and John David Washington?? This romantic drama takes you into the depths of an all-too-real couple fight and how the partners choose to work through it.
35. Alex Strangelove
This adorable rom-com follows Alex Truelove, a popular high schooler who is banking on losing his virginity to his girlfriend, Claire, but, in typical high school fashion, nothing goes as planned. Things get a little more complicated when Alex realizes he has a crush on a cute guy from another school.
36. The Lovebirds
When we tell you that you are going to be c-a-c-k-l-i-n-g throughout this entire movie, it is not a lie! Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani play a longtime couple stumbling through their fizzled-out romance until…they become murder suspects and obviously, chaos ensues.
37. Really Love
A young Black woman who’s a law student and a young Black painter serendipitously fall for each other in the midst of their own professional quests. A true soft and gentle love story that’ll make you feel all the feels.
38. Fatal Affair
A-listers Nia Long and Omar Epps star in this thriller about an unhappily married woman falling for an old friend who turns out to be just a bit obsessed with her. Guess the grass really isn’t greener on the other side!
39. Resort to Love
Rom-com queen Christina Milian also stars in this one as Erica, an aspiring pop singer who lands a resident gig at a luxurious island resort in East Africa, not realizing that her ex-fiancé (played by Jay Pharoah) is planning on getting married there. Welp!
40. Marriage Story
Watch this movie if you wanna feel really, really good about spending your Valentine’s Day alone as a single person. Just sayin'.
