Whether or not Lizzo takes home any trophies at the BET Awards this year, she's already achieved a major win: She's the first person in the award show's history to be nominated as best female R&B/pop artist and best female hip-hop artist, according to Billboard. And along with her historic nods, the singer/rapper/flautist also secured an album of the year nomination for her release, Cuz I Love You. After her fantastic wedding-themed performance at last year's BET ceremony, it's no surprise Lizzo is once again killing it.
It's been over a year since the breakout star has dropped the acclaimed LP, but luckily for us, her songs are timeless. From self love anthems to post-heartbreak pick-me-ups, relive some of Lizzo's best hits below.
At this point, Lizzo songs are basically synonymous with self acceptance and confidence boosts, and thanks to tracks like this one. Funky, spunky, and all-around fun, "Juice" encourages listeners to celebrate themselves with lines like "if I'm shining, everybody gonna shine."
On the bouncy, cheeky, and flirtatious Cuz I Love You track, Lizzo lays out her all-encompassing dating pool, empowering her listeners and all of their crushes. “From this Black girl to the world, I want you to identify with my story no matter what you like in yo’ holes," she said of the song. With a sound this fun, it's no wonder the track launched a viral trend on TikTok.
"Good As Hell"
This feel-good hit climbed the charts in 2019, but it was originally released years prior and was part of the singer's Coconut Oil EP. She even tapped Ariana Grande for a remix last fall.
On the topic Lizzo's big-time collaborations, her biggest link-up yet was with rapper, producer, and music video extraordinaire Missy Elliott. On this Cuz I Love You single, the pair celebrate their curves and upbeat jams.
"Why men great 'til they gotta be great?" remains one of the greatest opening lyrics of our time. On Lizzo's biggest hit yet—and her first number one song on Billboard's Hot 100 chart—she serves the ultimate, "too good for you" post-breakup hit. Though it was released in 2017, you can thank the Netflix movie Someone Great for boosting this song into the mainstream airwaves two years later.
"Batches & Cookies"
On this hit from her 2014 album Lizzobangers (which lives up to its title), Lizzo rides a tough and steady flow and shares the mic with fellow artist Sophia Eris, who delivers a razor-sharp verse.
