Hearties, we won't have to wait much longer to see what's next for Elizabeth and Lucas.

Just a few months after the When Calls the Heart season 8 finale aired (and broke so, so many hearts), Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth on the show, announced that the cast is heading back to Hope Valley to film the ninth season, expected to drop early next year. Although the actress didn't just come right out and say it, loyal Hearties were able to pick up on a telling clue: Erin didn't post her usual #planeselfie like she does when she's on her way to shoot the show. However, she kept to tradition by sharing photo of herself in the car with #plainselfienotaplaneselfie.

Fans immediately voiced their excitement, telling her just how excited they are for season 9 along with a long string of hearts and heart eye emojis. Despite some controversy surrounding Elizabeth's big decision at the end of season 8, it seems like the fans in Erin's comment section are thrilled to see Hope Valley's newest lovebirds in action. "Can’t wait for Elizabeth’s next chapter in her journey. And with Lucas,' someone commented. Another chimed in that they hope the new season brings more "courting and kissing" for Elizabeth and Lucas.

Her co-star Pascale Hutton, who plays Rosemary, confirmed that she's also on her way. "Should I revise my calendar? See you soon," she commented. Shortly after, Pascale posted a photo with the caption, "Getting Rosemary ready!!!!"

Andrea Brooks, who plays Faith, posted a similar photo, teasing that "it's almost time" to return to Hope Valley.

It's unclear at this point if the cast is reuniting to film season 9 or another When Calls the Heart Christmas special. As you may recall, Hallmark Channel was forced to scrap the 2020 When Calls the Heart Christmas movie due to the pandemic. Up until last year, Hallmark Channel aired a two-hour Hope Valley Christmas special since 2015. Considering that the cast is back together and we're still months out from the show's anticipated season 9 release date, we're assuming (hoping, really) they'll film a brand-new Christmas movie before they get started on any new episodes. As of right now, Hallmark Channel hasn't confirmed their "Countdown to Christmas" lineup, but we'll be the first to tell you when it's announced and more importantly, if a new When Calls the Heart Christmas movie made the cut.
