Eric Church and his wife Katherine Blasingame have been married since 2008.
They now share two kids together, sons Boone McCoy Church and Tennessee Hawkins Church.
The Church family currently lives in Nashville, TN.
When country star Eric Church and his wife Katherine Blasingame married in 2008, Eric surprised his bride with a performance of his song, “You Make it Look So Easy.” It's about how Katherine is Eric’s refuge from a crazy world, and has lyrics such as, “You're my compass when I'm lost, my anchor when I get tossed." More than 15 years later, that's still true.
Eric, 47, and Katherine met in Nashville when he was starting out as a country musician and she was a music publisher. He told Taste of Country that Katherine originally wanted to connect Eric with a songwriter she represented, but the two made a love connection instead.
Eric Church Counts on Katherine's Support
Eric has described Katherine as his biggest support. Because of her industry experience, he often shares song ideas with her to see if they will work.
Although Eric refuses to take her advice about a song he often performs "Old Friends, Old Whiskey, Old Song," which happens to be Katherine's favorite.
"If my wife was here right now we’d have a whole different conversation because that’s one of her favorites and we’ve had many arguments about that song,” Eric said during an iHeartCountry listening party in 2021. “She beats on me every day that if I don’t record that we might not be married forever.”
Surely Eric will come to his sense before there's real trouble in paradise!
The couple has also relied on each other during difficult times. In 2017, Eric had a blood clot in his chest that was caused by a rare birth defect. Katherine was at home in Nashville and Eric was in North Carolina at the family’s summer home with their two sons, Boone (born 2011) and Hawk (born 2015). Eric suddenly experienced swelling and difficulty moving his arm. He underwent emergency surgery and said that being with his family was his first thought.
“I was thinking about my family and kids, and how I wanted to get back home,” Eric told Rolling Stone.
The following summer, the couple had to cope with another upset—the loss of Eric’s younger brother, Brandon, who died from "consequences of chronic alcoholism" at the age of 36, according to People.
Life’s hardships have made this Nashville power couple focus on what’s truly important—each other and giving back. Together, they founded Chief Cares in 2013 that serves underprivileged families in Tennessee and North Carolina.
They’ve expanded globally to provide ongoing help to children in Nepal. The couple also started a scholarship fund in memory of Eric’s brother. In 2016, the foundation raised over $1 million for diabetes research in honor of Church's parents.
The couple also prioritizes alone time, even when they're on the road.
“She stays with me on the road. With kids, it’s hard, but we just try to find a quiet spot together, somewhere, sometime, and that’s usually enough,” Eric said.
Katherine even traveled to the Grammys in Los Angeles in 2015 when Eric was nominated for an award and she was 39 weeks pregnant! Katherine insisted on accompanying her husband, and Eric worried she might go into labor. It all turned out fine, though, and their son, Hawk, was born one week later.
In 2023, Eric and Katherine celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary, a real milestone especially in the music industry! Here's to many more years of marital bliss to come for this country music couple!
