Emma Stone Just Got a Perm and Documented the Whole Thing

Emma Stone is the latest celebrity to undergo a major hair transformation. Here are all the details on Emma Stone's perm.

Perms are having a comeback. Yes, perms—but no, not the crunchy, '80s music video curls you remember. Instead, 2018's version is much more subtle. Think heat-free beach waves you can just wash and go. Both Julianne Hough and Jenna Dewan Tatum are counted among fans, and now there's one more celebrity to add to the list. Folks, Emma Stone just got a perm.

The beloved actress, redhead, and, on occasion, Daenerys Targaryen doppelganger was seen in rollers at Mare Salon, posing with her partner in permanent waves, makeup artist Rachel Goodwin. And before you freak out, don't—according to Goodwin's caption, their new looks are "not your grandma's perm!"

Behold the shot Goodwin shared of their perm process, from start to finish.

The technique, which many salons are calling a "digital wave", starts around $350 depending where you go. It involves using a more diluted version of perm solution, where a stylist applies it to your hair, then wraps sections of hair around metal rollers (which you can see in the photo above). One of our staffers recently got it done and swears by how much time it's cut off her routine.

While it's hard to tell on wet hair exactly how curled—or wavy—Stone's new hair will be, we think it's safe to say that it'll be damn good. And hey, if it's less than perfect, at least she and her best friend will be growing out the look together.
