Emily Ratajkowski Is Using Snail Mucin to Fix Her ‘Freaked Out’ Quarantine Skin

When she’s not effortlessly pulling off risky fashion choices or dressing like she’s living in 1996, Emily Ratajkowski is dealing with an issue us lay people can certainly relate to: problemed skin. “My skin freaked out at the beginning of quarantine,” she lamented in an Instagram Story over the weekend. So she did what any other skincare lover would do and completely revamped her routine — and she included snail mucin as an added bonus.

It’s not an entirely out-there move, especially in the world of celebrity skincare — Gwyneth Paltrow certainly wouldn’t bat an eye. But it’s certainly not up there with cleansers and toners as the most conventional skin care choice. Ratajkowski opted for Cosrx’s Advanced Snail Mucin Power Essence, which is a go-to for advanced skincare users (it’s got a perfect five-star rating at Dermstore) and shoppers swear it hydrates and evens the skin’s texture and tone. Snail mucin has many benefits, and her highly concentrated choice can diminish the appearance of pores, heal scars, and brighten complexion. It’s also cheaper than you might think at $23.

Snail mucin isn’t the only ingredient Ratajkowski is using to relieve her stressed out complexion. It seems she’s quite the Dr. Loretta stan: In addition to starting her quarantine skincare routine with the brand’s gentle and hydrating cleanser, she seals the deal with its replenishing serum, which primes skin for makeup and protects from pollution. Ratajkowski called it “delicious.” (But please, keep it to external use only.)

Naturally, she’s also using retinol, a.k.a. the power-move of skincare routines. The Dr. Dennis Gross ferulic and retinol moisturizer she showed off to her 26 million followers hydrates and plumps the skin while reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation. We love to see a good restorative finish.
