Emily Ratajkowski hits back at mum-shamers on Instagram: "shame on you all"
Just days after Megan Fox spoke out about mum-trolling, Emily Ratajkowski is demanding an end to parent-shaming and took to Instagram on Friday to address comments that were being made about her son.
The model and actress welcomed Sylvester Appollo Bear with husband Sebastian Bear-McClard on March 8, and has since been the target of trolling about her parenting, from the way she holds him, to his unique name.
Speaking out in the light of Britney Spears' conservatorship battle, the 30-year-old looked back on the hate the singer had also been subjected to in the headlines over the years.
In a now-expired Instagram Story, she wrote, "We are all reflecting back on shaming Britney and calling her a bad mom when she drove with her baby in her lap.
"We talk about how we have to ‘do better’ as a culture. Meanwhile, my comments are filled with awful remarks about how I don’t deserve to be a mom. Shame on you all.”
She continued, “I don’t care if you hate me or hate celebrity (or just hate women) but it’s incredibly scary to become a parent and no one deserves to be told by strangers that they’re a shitty mother.”
Just last month, Emily faced the wrath of the internet and the tabloids when she was pictured holding her son under her arm, and accused of 'not holding him properly'.
Despite the image being taken down, it's still a frequent topic in her Instagram comments - particularly on a Father's Day post where she shared a personal drawing of her young family.
In the artwork, which was created by a fan, Emily can be seen next to her husband and cradling baby Sylvester. Despite the good intentions of the adorable snap, fans were quick to point out her parenting flaws.
"Finally a picture where ur holding the child properly. Glad to see you figured it out", one wrote, while another added, "At least you're holding the baby in a proper way in a painting for starters."
Other celebrities who have been in the firing line during recent times over their *perfectly normal and acceptable* parenting include Hilary Duff, Cardi B, and Mila Kunis.
However, despite the negativity, Emily continues to use her platform to showcase her own, refreshing version of motherhood outside of the model we love, documenting her changing shape and normalising breast feeding. Keep going, Emily!
