Félicitations, Emily in Paris fans! Netflix’s comedy starring Lily Collins as everyone’s favorite American social media maven living in Paris has been renewed for season 3. And season 4. Even better? Netflix has released brand-new images from the third season (more on that below), and they are gorgeous.
Glamour also has the official synopsis for season 3, which, until now, has been kept under wraps. If you recall, at the end of season 2 (which aired in December 2021), Emily decided she wanted to stay in Paris and declare her love to Gabriel. The only problem was that Gabriel reconciled with Camille, which made for quite the awkward situation in the finale. If she stays in Paris and goes to work for Sylvie—who left Savoir, the luxury French marketing firm, to start her own company—then she's faced with seeing Camille and Gabriel together on a daily basis. Then there's Alfie, who is all in on Emily, but Emily doesn't seem to be all in on him.
Of course, she could also return to Chicago, but Emily in Chicago just doesn’t have the same ring to it. So what do we know? Well, here’s what Netflix has to say:
One year after moving from Chicago to Paris for her dream job, Emily finds herself at a crucial crossroads in every aspect of her life. Faced with two very different paths, Emily will have to decide exactly where her loyalties lie—at work and in her romantic life—and what those decisions mean for her future in France, all while continuing to immerse herself in the adventures and surprising twists and turns that life in Paris provides.
Okay, so based on Netflix’s official logline, we still don’t know much about the new season, but given that fan favorite Lucien Laviscount (Alfie) is now a series regular (he was previously listed as a guest star), it seems Emily might try to make things work with the charming Brit. (Of course, as far as we know, he has no idea that she went to Gabriel’s apartment hoping to start something back up with the Frenchman.) As creator Darren Star told Glamour last year, “What’s happened with Emily does not mean the end of Alfie. Sometimes you look at a relationship that you think is the One, and you realize that the One might be someone else. So I don’t believe that…. Certainly, for me, the door is open for Emily and Alfie.”
There’s lots to look forward to in the new season—aside from incredible costumes, stunning locales, and hot men: mainly Emily’s decision about her future. “The thing about this decision is there’s no right decision here,” Star told us. “There’s no one decision that’s going to make everybody happy or that’s even going to make Emily happy. She has some tough choices, and she’s put in the middle of a lot of sticky situations at the end of the season.”
So with that said, let’s take a look at the 10—yep, 10—new photos that Netflix released on September 22, 2022.
Here’s everything else we know about Emily in Paris season 3 so far:
Emily in Paris will return for a third and a fourth season.
On Monday, January 10, 2021, Netflix announced the comedy series was renewed by the streaming service for not one but two seasons.
When will seasons 3 and 4 drop on Netflix?
On September 24, Netflix announced that season 3 will drop on December 21.
Which cast members are returning?
Producer and star Lily Collins also returns as Emily Cooper, alongside returning series regulars Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Ashley Park (Mindy), Camille Razat (Camille), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc), William Abadie (Antoine), and Lucien Laviscount (Alfie). Creator and showrunner Darren Star also returns to helm the third season.
Will we meet Sylvie’s family?
“Absolutely,” Star tells Glamour about meeting more of Sylvie’s loved ones. “It’s something we might hear more about in future seasons. We don’t find out everything about Sylvie all at once. She’s like an onion or an artichoke. There’s a lot of layers to peel.”
What about a Kim Cattrall appearance?
Fans have been calling for Cattrall to make an appearance on the show ever since it was revealed that her Sex and the City character, Samantha Jones, had relocated to London. We know that Darren Star and former SATC costume designer Patricia Field (and current Emily in Paris co-costume designer) are close to Cattrall, so let’s just say it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
