The Proud Family Is Possibly Getting New Episodes on Disney+
If you've been holding out for a return of The Proud Family, there's renewed hope. After rumors of a possible return from the series started swirling back in August, another former voice actor on the series dropped a major hint regarding a possible return date.
While making an appearance on the talk show Strahan, Sara, & Keke, Jo Marie Payton, the voice of Sugar Mama, let a possible return date slip. As reported by Buzzfeed, Jo was asked whether she related to her Proud Family character, and she had responded, "Yeah, Suga’s large and in charge, that’s all I’ve got to say. Except for Suga Mama will be doing some new episodes come February."
Keke then responded, and revealed where the new episodes might land, saying, "On Disney+! I just talked to Ralph [Farquhar] about this, I can't wait to see the new episodes."
Now, Disney hasn't confirmed whether more Proud Family is in our future, but another star from the series, Tommy Davidson, had shared similar news during a recent red carpet appearance. The voice of Oscar Proud had said that the series was coming back in August, saying, " It's on one of Disney's streaming [services]. Yeah, Proud Family's coming back. They told me not to tell you."
Again, this remains continued speculation for now, and Disney+ hasn't yet added a landing page for the series to its service. However, The Proud Family movie is currently available for streaming on the platform. It looks like we'll have to wait and see whether this streaming dream comes true, but in the meantime, we always have the iconic theme song to hum along to.
