Drag Race 's Latrice Royale Talks About Coming Out During Her Magical Makeup Transformation

"I did not have brows for like 20 years," Latrice Royale tells Allure before performing one of the most jaw-dropping makeup transformations we've seen lately. Most of us can relate to having regrettable brows in our past, but despite her brow history, Royale emerged triumphant is here to teach you how to solve all that and more.

To begin, she stresses the importance of starting with a clean slate — a washed face without makeup — so whip out your face wash. Next up, Latrice Royale puts on her foundation while sharing the story of going to her first drag show and how her whole life changed. We don't want to spoil the entire story for you, but there may have been an interpretative dance involved in Royale's first drag performance. "I was a hot mess," she laughs.

In the years that passed, Royale went from not owning any drag to becoming an icon in the drag, makeup, and glamour worlds. During the makeup tutorial, she discusses coming out and finding a chosen family, so you might be slightly distracted from the makeup tips while wiping the tears from your eyes. And speaking of eyes, she begins with a primer, which helps eye makeup stay in place.

Once she's primed, she breaks out the color and reminds us that, "As long as you're contoured and you have a strong lip and a lash," you'll be fine. While some people find a color palette they love and stick with it, Royale shares that she likes to experiment; in this video, she opts for a lovely purple shade. "Once I started loving myself a little bit more, good things started happening," she says while discussing ombre eyes.

So how does Royale apply liquid liner, glitter, and lipstick? And what happened when she came out to her brother, the Marine? Grab the tissues, get ready to reapply your mascara, and watch the video above to find out.
