Bachelorette Hannah's Premiere Gown Is Unlike Any You've Seen Before

Bachelor Nation, we're back! Fans have watched and rewatched the trailer, combed through all the contestants' bios (and identified any and all red flags), and made their guesses as to how many times we'll hear "Roll Tide!" throughout the season. Now, at long last, Hannah Brown's time as The Bachelorette has arrived. And on tonight's season premiere, the 2018 Miss Alabama USA followed an unofficial series tradition by wearing a first-night gown by designer Randi Rahm.

Becca Kufrin, Rachel Lindsay, and JoJo Fletcher all wore the New York-based label to greet potential suitors on their Bachelorette premiere episodes, though Hannah's gown—The Evolution Celeste Sequin Dress, to be exact, from the designer's Spring 2019 collection—is a little different.

"It’s a little more modernized than what I usually do," Rahm tells Glamour, explaining that the pattern of the sequins is "sleeker" than the usual embellishments you'll find on her gowns. "Those are stacked sequins—some of the sequins that you’re looking at and you think it’s just one, there’s actually six behind them, so it makes a 3D [effect]." The embellished gown retails for $12,500.

"It’s a very sensual but approachable piece," she says. "Sometimes, things can be too sexy or overdone—you want to be that right balance of sensual, young, fresh, and new. Hannah's new look is about having more of an edge and stepping out of the pageant world that she was in. I think this is a great representation of that—it’s still feminine, but it has a little edge to it."

For years, Rahm has been working with longtime Bachelor stylist Cary Fetman to outfit the women of the franchise. But for big moments like the first night and the finale, "the girls pick from thousands and thousands of dresses," Rahm says. "Usually, they pick the crème de la crème of what I have."

Rahm was specifically tapped by Fetman and ABC to create Hannah's first big fashion moment as The Bachelorette: the official promo. Hannah is seen walking through a forest, gradually shedding the accoutrements of her beauty queen past—eventually revealing that her tulle princess skirt was hiding a jumpsuit. "Think you know her? Think again," it declared.

"For people who know me, that’s typical me—I like to do a lot of things that break apart or come apart," Rahm says of the custom look. "It was almost last-minute because they couldn’t decide on a color. I literally created that in two days."

The design had staying power: Rahm reimagined the multi-part jumpsuit as part of her latest bridal collection, released in April. It was named after Hannah.

"I think everyone has their own individual approach to who they are. In evening clothes, [Hannah's] look has turned out to be very sleek," says Rahm. "No matter what she wears—and you’ll see it, in things I’m not allowed to talk about but know she’s going to wear. I would think, 'Yeah, I figured she’d pick that, I could see her picking that.'"

Rahm won't say what else we might see Hannah wearing this season, but she teases that there's "a lot" of Randi Rahm, which means The Bachelor's love of all-things-embellished is going strong.
