Photos of actors showing off their six-packs aren't exactly a rarity on Instagram, but the latest ab-baring image to go viral actually marks a major moment—both for actor Elliot Page and for trans visibility.

On May 24, Page posted a shirtless photo on Instagram to celebrate his first pair of swim trunks, sharing his top surgery results at the same time. Page captioned the photo, “Trans bb’s first swim trunks,” including the hashtags #transjoy and #transisbeautiful.

Top surgery is a common gender-affirming procedure that some trans, nonbinary and queer people decide to undergo to alleviate gender dysphoria.

Page came out as trans, non-binary and queer on December 1 last year with a heartening statement on Instagram. According to TIME, the actor posted the announcement while recovering from top surgery in Toronto. In March, he told TIME the surgery was “not only life-changing, but lifesaving.”

In his recent Instagram shot, Page's smile is electric, with many celebrities and fans commenting on how happy the actor looks celebrating his maroon trunks and trans identity simultaneously.

The photo also displays Page's top surgery scars, which often don't fade completely after the gender-affirming procedure. While not all trans people choose to get top surgery, those who do sometimes experience dysphoria regarding their resulting scars.

Through Page using his platform to show off his top surgery scars (along with his abs, but that's another story), he is yet again moving the needle for trans visibility.
