Super successful Shondaland show Grey's Anatomy is heading into its fifteenth season right now. But according to Meredith Grey herself, the series could be winding down sooner than we originally thought.

Ellen Pompeo has played titular character Meredith Grey since the very beginning, and she's stuck with the show through thick and thin. But her current contract only takes her to the end of Season 16, meaning that there's a huge question mark surrounding whether or not the actress will decide to stay on Grey's Anatomy.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, to celebrate the return of the show for Season 15, Pompeo said (via Marie Claire), "I’m clearly not prepared right now to make any formal announcement about what my future is on the show, but I am really feeling like we have told the majority of the stories that we can tell."

And even though her "formal announcement" could still be a way in the future, it's clear that the Moonlight Mile actress is getting itchy feet. As she revealed to EW, "It’s about time that I mix it up. I’m definitely looking for a change."

Earlier this year it was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that Pompeo had negotiated an impressive salary for staying on the show. The new deal sees the Grey's Anatomy star take home $575,000 per episode, as well as an incredible signing bonus and equity points.

Pompeo previously revealed to Us Weekly that she'd make any crucial decisions about the show with creator Shonda Rhimes saying, "Shonda and I will make that decision together."
