If you've scrolled through Instagram or Pinterest in the past few years, you've likely seen some version of this: a luxe sheepskin chair, usually featuring a modern frame in brass or chrome. The combination of sleek metal and plush sheepskin makes for an intriguing texture, so it's little surprise that this style of chair has made its way into rooms both minimal and eclectic in recent years. If you're itching to get the look but don't have the budget for an expensive furniture piece, Mikel Welch has the solution for you. Here, the House Beautiful Next Wave designer shows how to easily get the look with a plastic chair, some spray paint, and inexpensive pillowcases. Here's how.

Supplies:

  • Plastic or metal chair

  • Gold or brass metallic spray paint

  • Sheepskin pillowcases

  • Fiber fill

  • Comb

  • Scissors

Step 1: Spray paint

Bring your chair outside and spray paint it with the metallic paint of your choice. Let dry completely.

Step 2: Prepare cushions

While the chair dries, tuff the pillowcases with fiber fill, filling one slightly more than the other. Use the comb to smooth the wool in one direction.

Step 3: Place cushions

Set the slightly less full cushion on the seat with the "hair" combed downwards. Place the fuller cushion on the chair back. And voilà! A chic, furry chair fit for a high-design interior.
