I know, I know, I know. We're three years too late to the trend. People are so over Instagram pics of people holding their crazy burgers up in front of the picturesque New York City skyline … not. Whether you like it or not, ramen burgers still trending. Personally I don't get the hype, but I can't rightly say I don't like them since I've never had one. Because I refuse to wait in line for an hour (which is what it generally takes to get a hold of one around me), I made my own.

I was pleasantly surprised. Not by the taste (more on that later), but by how easy they were to make. Many of the copycat recipes that exist in the universe call for chilling and pressing down cooked ramen before frying them as little patties. We tossed the cooked noodles with eggs then loaded the mixture into mason jar lids in a skillet to form perfect rounds. They fry up perfectly golden, compact and circular that way. No chilling required!

It was easy, yes. But will I be making ramen burgers on the reg? Probably not. Though the burger - packed with onion, jalapeño, and green onion - is delicious, I couldn't help but think that I'd rather be enjoying it on a potato bun. I liked the crunch of the fried noodles as a patty by itself, but I don't need it for my cheeseburger. Many disagree me, which is why the trend lives on. So you'll just have to try for yourself.
