Dwyane Wade passed Larry Bird for 10th spot on all-time playoff scoring list

Everything was working early for Dwyane Wade on Monday night in Philadelphia.

Wade and the Miami Heat were taking on the 76ers in Game 2 of the opening round of the NBA Playoffs, and Wade simply couldn’t miss in the first half.

The 15-year NBA veteran opened the game going 7-of-7 from the field, putting up 21 points in the first half.

His hot start even pushed him past Larry Bird on the NBA all-time playoff scoring list — who finished his career with 3,897 postseason points.

While the 36-year-old is still several thousand points away from the top of the list — LeBron James holds the top spot with nearly 6,200 playoff points — moving to the 10th spot on the list is certainly impressive. Outside of James and Wade, San Antonio’s Tony Parker and Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki are the only active players in the NBA that are in the top 15.

Wade finished with 28 points in Miami’s 113-103 win against Philadelphia on Monday night, giving him 3,910 career playoff points.

Now we’ll see if he can lead the Heat out of the first round of the playoffs for the second time in four seasons.
