Dwyane Wade Let a 17-Year-Old Colorist Paint Flames Into His Hair

Dwyane Wade has had a very productive couple of months, at least in terms of his hair. Like so many celebrities, the NBA legend has looked to bleach and dye as a way to have a little fun while staying safe at home. In May, he dyed his hair bright red, which faded to a fabulous shade of pink come June. And just last week, Wade's wife, Gabrielle Union, shared a TikTok revealing he'd bleached it blonde. But just when Wade though he was ready to go back to his natural shade, he took his hair-color experimentation to the next level.

"Yo, y'all know I like to do stuff with my hair, so I dyed it back to black. You know, gotta get my professional look on," Wade says in a new video on Instagram. But then, Jared Esguerra's talent for incredible dye jobs caught his eye. The self-taught colorist is only 17 years old, but that didn't deter Wade from reaching out to him to have him create what may be the greatest beauty tribute to his beloved Miami Heat that we've ever seen.

In the slide after Wade's introductory clip, we see that the back of his head has been intricately dyed in an awesome flame shape, with vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow that pop against his naturally dark hair.

Esguerra posted clips of the process on his Instagram Stories, and he shared with Allure exactly how he created the look. "I started off by making the outline with a white eyeliner pencil and used the bleach to fill in the spots," he explains. "From there, I just watched and waited to wash out the bleach until my desired lift was achieved. After that I just had fun with the colors."

He also told Allure exactly what products he used: Schwarzkopf's BlondMe Bond Enforcing Premium Lightener and Developer, Guy Tang's Mydentity Big9 Creme Lightener, Pulp Riot's Semi-Permanent Color in Lava, Punky Colour's Semi-Permanent Conditioning Hair Color in Cherry on Top, and Wella's Semi-Permanent Hair Color in Yellow. (But we'd recommend not trying this on your own.)

The results are absolutely incredible. We'd say we can't wait to see what Wade does with his hair next, but we also can't help but hope this awesome hair-color art sticks around for a while.
