Last week, while most of us were happily stuffing our faces with pumpkin pie and sweet potatoes covered in mini marshmallows, James Van Der Beek decided to enlighten his Instagram followers with some chiseled shirtless pics to show how his time on Dancing with the Stars changed his body.

The actor and DWTS contestant posted a side-by-side photo of his body before and after his time on the show. Van Der Beek, who was pretty fit to begin with, became much more lean after his time on DWTS. In his caption, Van Der Beek credited his “before” body to six months of Muay Thai martial arts training and his “after” body to his dance training for the show. Van Der Beek’s deltoids and obliques are much more defined after the dance training, possibly from all the twists and lifts.

In the comments, one follower asked if there was a certain diet the actor followed during his time on the reality show. Van Der Beek replied directly to the comment, saying he ate, "a lot of fruit, vegetables, lot of smoothies, salads" and "pretty much ate vegan until dinner."

"[I] Had to keep it light fare because we didn’t really take breaks," Van Der Beek continued. "Not so much a diet… more like only wanting to eat what I knew would make me feel good under the work load.”

Another fan commented “Even your hair changed,” to which Van Der Beek replied “😎.”

Van Der Beek was a fan favorite during his time on DWTS and was eliminated right before the final, where Bachelorette star Hannah Brown took home the mirror ball trophy. He and his dance pro partner Emma Slater consistently got high scores from the judges, including a rare perfect score for a contemporary piece. And despite an emotional exit from the competition, Van Der Beek and his super-toned bod seem to be happy with his time on the show.
