‘DWTS’ judge Carrie Ann Inaba recounts her own experience of sexual assault

During a discussion about sexual assault on The Talk, recurring co-host Carrie Ann Inaba gave an emotional account of an incident in which she was sexually assaulted. Inaba explained, “Something happened to me when I was studying martial arts with the person who was training me, who was supposed to be my sensei. And he did something inappropriate, like pulled down my pants.”

Inaba shared her reaction to the initial assault, “I froze and because I froze, I felt guilty.”

The Dancing With the Stars judge said that she relied on her discussions with a friend to overcome her feelings of guilt and shame. She said, “And because of that, I walked away from that with no shame. I mean, I still have emotions about it, but I didn’t feel shame for me. Where, if I didn’t, I would probably be living with that kind of shame inside me.”
