Dwayne Johnson Supported His Ex-Wife's Body Transformation with One Sweet Post

From Oprah Magazine

  • Before Dwayne Johnson became The Rock and Maui (hello, Disney's Moana fans), he was just another student at the University of Miami, and it was there that he met Dany Garcia—his future manager, friend, and wife.

  • Garcia and Johnson divorced in 2008; however, the two remained close, and last week, Johnson took to Instagram to highlight Garcia's personal and professional accomplishments, including her complete and total physical transformation.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson may be a household name, but did you know a woman is responsible for much of his fame? It's true. Dany Garcia—Johnson's friend, manager, and ex-wife—played an instrumental role in shaping his career. And now Johnson is hoping to return the favor: The Fast and Furious star took to Instagram late last week to showcase Garcia's personal and professional accomplishments, including her complete and total physical transformation.

"What. A. Journey," Johnson wrote. "A huge congratulations [to] Dany, for this incredible achievement. Your level of discipline and hard work is the anchor for which you will always succeed in life, but it’s your HUMILITY in this moment that’s the true blessing."

The "moment" was Garcia's return to the International Federation of Bodybuilding stage in September 2019, which Johnson also shared.

Johnson added his wife's support. (If you recall, he surprised us all when he announced he married Lauren Hashian this past August).

"@laurenhashianofficial and I, could not be more proud" he wrote before ending the post with the words "Congrats again, my friend. Onward. Family." In addition to being Johnson's ex, she is the mother of Simone Garcia Johnson, 18, the Rock's oldest child. But that's not all: Garcia's husband and trainer, Dave Rienzi, also trains Johnson.

Yes, Garcia's current husband helps her ex-husband stay toned.

Garcia and Johnson also maintain a great working relationship. Garcia co-founded Seven Bucks Productions in 2012, a company which has since produced several films starring Johnson, including Baywatch, Rampage, and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

As for Garcia, Rienzi admits he is proud of his wife. "Dany's lost over 40 pounds from when she started this contest prep to her weigh-in this morning," he explained in the video, "[and] getting back on stage after four years... is a tremendous victory. Regardless of how she places, I'm blown away... the amount of effort she puts into this it's really incredible. It's really a testament to how strong her will is." And Johnson agreed: "Her ability and strength to be able to set her mind to this and execute is amazing."
