Duchess Kate surprises nursery children for breakfast: See the adorable photos

The Duchess of Cambridge was on royal duty for the third time this week, this time to join nursery students at LEYF Stockwell Gardens Nursery & Pre-School in London for breakfast.

The surprise visit was made as part of Kate's latest initiative, 5 Big Questions, a nationwide survey she launched last week for parents, teachers and other caregivers to help shape discussions on the importance of early childhood development.

Kate, in a Sézane "Tulio" off-white knit top and Aquatalia boots, first spent time with the school's chefs to learn about how nutrition plays a part in students' lives. The mom of three later assisted parents and teachers in serving breakfast, before joining the students at the table for the meal.

“Mine absolutely love [beets] — it’s one of those things, until you try it, you don’t know," the duchess revealed about George, Charlotte and Louis when talking to the staff about picky eaters.

The initiative, which the royal kicked off last week on a two-day tour, aims to generate conversation on early childhood nationwide to bring about "positive, lasting change for generations to come."

"I want to hear the key issues affecting our families and communities so I can focus my work on where it is needed most," the duchess said.

"I’m here today to help launch a survey to hear society’s views about raising the next generation. Parents, carers and families are at the heart of caring for children in the formative years so that is why I want to listen to them," Kate said at the launch of the initiative on Tuesday.

“As a parent, I know how much we cherish the future health and happiness of our children. I want to hear the key issues affecting our families and communities so I can focus my work on where it is needed most. My ambition is to provide lasting change for generations to come.”
