Dua Lipa Brings Back the Ultimate Noughties Accessory

This morning, while under lockdown somewhere in London, Dua Lipa graced the world of Instagram with a new look. The pop star showed off her freshly dyed pink hair along with a relaxed ensemble consisting of loose drawstring shorts and a barely-buttoned gray cardigan that, oh so nonchalantly, left her pink bra strap exposed. In Lipa's words she was, “workshopping inside outside outfits.” It was the accessories though, that truly brought this inside look, well, outside. Lipa sported a pair of sunglasses, three strands of candy-colored beads around her neck, and a glittering red shoulder bag in what appeared to be a personal driveway (in other words, no need for a mask here.)

The crowning glory, however, was undoubtedly the Louis Vuitton monogram print silk scarf she wore knotted at the nape of her neck like a bandana. The accessory is a cool throwback to the ’90s as well as the noughties, when it was worn by the likes of Aaliyah and later Christina Aguilera. It’s also been a signature for several men in fashion, including photographer Steven Meisel and John Galliano. More recently, Bella Hadid, who happens to be the sister of Lipa’s boyfriend Anwar, rocked the look courtesy of Chrome Hearts complete with a throwback French manicure. Now it seems Lipa is turning heads—or at least racking up likes—with the throwback style again.
