Drew and Jonathan Scott’s Sibling Gave an Update of the Mysterious Illness He's Battling
The Property Brothers: Forever Home star J.D. Scott revealed in July he was dealing with an unknown illness for the past year, and recently, gave fans an update.
J.D. shared all of the details on a Facebook post.
The 43-year-old says his medical team is continuing to work to figure out what exactly is happening to him, but he's feeling better than he did last year.
This past summer, J.D. Scott—the older brother of Drew and Jonathan Scott—opened up about battling an unknown illness for more than a year, and at that point had only started to understand what was happening to him. The Property Brothers: Forever Home star experienced symptoms of extreme sensitivity to high temperatures, unable to walk long distances, and a “crawly feeling” in his head.
In July, he and his fiancée Annalee Belle shared the details in an emotional 26-minute IGTV video, their journey of having multiple MRIs done and going to follow-up visits with specialists. Finally, the couple found hope with Dr. Scott Jacobson, a functional physician, who uses both Western and holistic medicine.
Now, J.D. has given his fans an update on how he’s doing. "On the positive side, I’m still feeling better than I did last year or even the beginning of this one," he wrote on Facebook. "I have so many other things I have to take daily for this treatment, but I am so grateful to finally have some real answers and direction."
Although there’s more clarity on J.D.’s issues, he and his medical team don’t have all the answers yet: The latest results show a GI infection with the possibility of fluoroquinolone toxicity and mercury poisoning. The 43-year-old has slowly begun to feel more like himself, but it hasn’t come without loss.
"We found out recently that someone we know very well didn’t believe I was actually sick," he explained. "All I can say to that is 'why'? ...What possible benefit do I get to pretending I’m fighting off this horrible illness and experience?"
Despite having people doubt his medical crisis, J.D. continues to be thankful for the support from those who’ve stuck by him, including his doctors, fans, and especially his fiancée Annalee, saying she’s the person, “who powers through everything to get me better.”
