How many times has Drew Barrymore been married?

Drew Barrymore has been married three times. Barrymore tied the knot with Los Angeles bar owner Jeremy Thomas on March 20, 1994, but filed for divorce about two months later. She married her second husband, comedian Tom Green, in 2001, but the two divorced in 2002. Her longest marriage was to Will Kopelman, an art consultant, from 2012 to 2016.

Who are Drew Barrymore's ex-husbands?

Jeremy Thomas

Drew Barrymore was 19 when she met Jeremy Thomas, then 31, at a Los Angeles bar he owned. The two dated for six weeks before saying "I do."

"Usually people live together first and then get married," Barrymore told People after their wedding. "I guess we're doing it the old-fashioned way. Kind of."

Kind of, indeed. The couple said "I don't" 19 days after the big day, and the divorce was signed, sealed and delivered in 1995.

Tom Green

Tom Green and Drew Barrymore met on the set of Charlie's Angels and began dating in March 2000. They had a surprise wedding in front of famous pals like Cameron Diaz and Courtney Love on July 7, 2001, at a private Malibu, Calif., estate. The two faced a house fire and Green's diagnosis of testicular cancer. But Green filed for divorce about a year-and-a-half after their wedding, in December 2001.

In 2009, Barrymore divulged to Parade, "I’ve stopped believing in happy endings. I’ve started believing in good days. At the end of my movie, there’s honesty. There’s truth. There’s peace. What tomorrow will bring is still in question. There is a joy that’s earned by failure or triumph. All those things add up to teach us if we are open to it.”

It appears Green and Barrymore have enjoyed a somewhat happy—or at least amicable—ending. Two decades after their split, the former husband-and-wife duo drove down memory lane and discussed trips they took as a married couple, including their honeymoon, on an episode of Barrymore's show.

Will Kopelman

Will Kopelman is an art consultant and son of former Chanel Chief Operating Office Arie L. Kopelman. He and Barrymore revealed they were engaged in January 2012 and married in California on June 2, 2012. The couple share two children, Olivia and Frankie, but they announced plans to separate in April 2016.

“Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family,” they said in a statement. “Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on.”

The divorce was finalized on Aug. 3, 2016.

Why did Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman get divorced?

Barrymore has said that there was "no scandal" involved in her and Kopelman's decision to divorce.

"Nothing went wrong, which is cleaner, but makes it harder and more confusing because there isn’t The Thing to point to,” she told People. “We tried so hard to make it work. [A friend] said to me, ‘Divorce is the death of a dream.’ That’s exactly what it feels like, something so final you can’t get it back.”

The Daytime Emmy-nominated talk-show host has been open in recent years about the toll her divorce took on her. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, for example, she shared that she had started drinking too much as a way to cope. But these days, it's clear she's made peace with her divorce. She even has the kindest things to say about Kopelman's new wife, Alexandra Michler.

"I went trick-or-treating on Sunday with Will and his beautiful wife Allie, my daughters' wonderful stepmother," Barrymore revealed on her show in 2021. "I think, honestly, this is so ideal. It is the dream. And I love seeing this, I really do. It's very positive."

Who are Drew Barrymore's famous boyfriends through the years?

Corey Feldman

Barrymore dated her fellow child star Corey Feldman from 1989-1990. At the time, Feldman was enjoying a meteoric rise to fame, having starred in flicks like The Goonies (1985) and License to Drive (1988).

The pair re-united on an episode of Barrymore's talk show in 2023 when it was revealed Steven Spielberg set the two up.

"I got a call one day. My grandmother says, 'We got a call from Steven [Spielberg's] office, and the little girl from E.T. wants to meet you because she's got a crush on you,'" Feldman said.

Balthazar Getty

After Feldman and Barrymore broke things off in 1990, Barrymore went out with Getty Oil heir Balthazar Getty. The two were both 15 when they dated from April to September 1990.

Leland Hayward III

Drew Barrymore and Leland Hayward III dated in 1991 when she was 16, and he was 24. Hayward is the grandson of legendary producer Leland Hayward, who produced high-profile stage productions like Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music. The two called the whole thing off a few months later.

David Arquette

The details of this reported relationship depend on who you ask. David Arquette said the Never Been Kissed and Scream co-stars dated as "very young kids" during a 2014 appearance on Watch What Happens Live.

"She's just one of the sweetest, kindest people in Hollywood...We used to run around and just be silly," Arquette added.

Barrymore has denied that they were ever more than just friends, but Arquette doubled down in an interview with PeopleTV's Couch Surfing in 2018. "She denied it on Howard Stern, but we dated, Drew," Arquette spilled.

Jamie Walters

Barrymore and Jamie Walters began dating in March 1992 and were engaged that June. It was a big year for Walters, who was tapped to play the lead role in The Heights by Aaron Spelling. He sang the theme song "How Do You Talk to an Angel?" which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on Nov. 14, 1992. Unfortunately, things didn't work out between Walters and future Charlie's Angel star Drew Barrymore. The couple never made it to the altar, splitting in 1992.

Eric Erlandson

Next up: Eric Erlandson, a Hole guitarist, in 1994. Barrymore's friend Courtney Love was also in the band (Barrymore is the godmother to Love's daughter with the late Kurt Cobain, Frances Bean Cobain). The couple broke up in 1996, and Erlandson didn't speak highly of the relationship in an interview with L.A. Weekly.

"I have a negative view of it—being worshiped too much," Erlandson said.

Unlike other exes, Erlandson probably won't make any appearances on The Drew Barrymore Show.

Fabrizio Moretti

After separating from Green in 2001, Barrymore met The Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti at a concert. The pair dated for about five years, and Barrymore called it the most positive relationship she'd ever been in during a 2004 interview with People. However, the couple broke up in 2007.

Luke Wilson

Luke Wilson and Barrymore were an item in the late '90s. At the time, Kate Hudson was dating Luke's brother, Owen. Hudson and Barrymore reflected on the time on a 2022 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.

"When we first met, we were young and wild," Barrymore said. "I was dating [Luke], but I think he was also dating other people. It was an open relationship. We were young."

Justin Long

Justin Long and Barrymore co-starred in He's Just Not Into You (2009) and Going the Distance (2010), and had an off-screen romance during that time. In a 2008 interview, Barrymore said Long was more than a boyfriend. He was her best friend.

"At some point, you decide who you want to be," she said in an interview with Oprah. "You grow up. You make different choices and changes in your life. This relationship is great. It's healthy, it's productive, and it's supportive. It's full of humor and a lot of fun."

Alas, the two didn't go the distance, breaking things off for good in 2010. But their split was clearly amicable. Long moved Barrymore when he came on her talk show in 2022 and said, "I'll love you, always."

How many kids does Drew Barrymore have?

Barrymore has two children, both with Will Kopelman. Her first daughter, Olive, was born in 2012, and her second, Frankie, made her debut in 2014.

In October 2015, prior to her divorce, Barrymore spoke to People about the thrill she gets from watching Kopelman be a dad.

"Honestly, I don't know how it is for other couples but really I like watching him be a father," she said. "I know everyone says you're supposed to put your coupledom first. But I really love it being all about the kids. Maybe that's my compensating for not having parents myself or a childhood but right now, the focus is about how we're figuring things out as parents."

How does Drew Barrymore feel about dating today?

Barrymore doesn't appear to be dating anyone at the time, and that's intentional. In an interview with Parade in 2020, she basically compared love to post-Thanksgiving dinner, "I’m stuffed,” she said. “I don’t have much of an appetite. [But] you never know what’s going to happen."
