Dermatologist Sandra Lee, MD, a.k.a. Dr. Pimple Popper, is a super busy doc this Wednesday. She launched a brand new video series on her Youtube channel with two satisfying pops. In her recent video, she tackles a mysterious bump on the back of her patient's neck.
The video begins with a good look at the white lump. Dr. Pimple Popper and all her fans can see it clearly, but she's still not certain what it is. She numbs the entire area to prep for extraction and explains her plan to her patient. He tells Dr. Pimple Popper the bump has been there for a year, but it's still a mystery.
That is, it's a mystery until she gets her comedone extractor tool out. She presses once and out pops a glob of white goo. That's all she needs to confirm it's a whitehead. "Look at all that that came out of there," Dr. Pimple Popper says.
FYI: "A whitehead or a closed comedo (single for comedone), unlike a blackhead, is a completely blocked pore. Similar to a blackhead, keratin (skin protein) and sebum (oil) combine to block the pores. Whiteheads can be extracted using a comedone extractor as you see in most of my videos, but often, a superficial nick in the skin must first be made in the skin to allow easy extraction."
That's exactly the process Dr. Pimple Popper followed, and her fans are loving it. One shared, "Now that was a little something extra!" Another Popaholic wrote, "My life is now complete." Same!
