After the last couple years, many of us are experiencing back and body pain daily from a variety of causes — sitting hunched over for hours at a time at the computer, chronic pain, injuries, and good ol' stress and anxiety. How can we work to relieve that pain from the comfort of home?

Chiropractor Dr. Justin Lewis sat down with us to share his top five pain-reducing essentials that every body needs, because pain shouldn't be a constant. Lewis founded Get Adjusted Chiropractic P.C. in 2019 with the goal of helping all patients take the necessary steps towards a pain-free lifestyle, and thanks to social media, his tips and recommendations have helped thousands reclaim their relief.

"One of my favorite products to use in the office, which I use on every single person," raved Lewis about the powerful little Theragun Pro. "It's basically like a little jackhammer which you can use on knots, muscle tension, anything like that. The strong vibration...increases the blood flow to the area, and feels amazing when you do it."

The Theragun Pro is quiet (thanks to its aptly-named QuietForce Technology) and works on 300 minutes of continuous battery life, so you can use it as long as you need. Customize your speed and force so it works exactly as you need it, and smart app integration means you can connect to your phone via Bluetooth to run personalized wellness routines based on your own behaviors and preferences!

He suggests pairing this kind of gua sha with CBD cream to repetitively scrape the area of muscle aches to increase blood flow and ease tightness.

If you're dealing with acute pain at home, Dr. Lewis recommends utilizing EMS, or Electrical Muscle Stimulation. This process sends an electrical current to penetrate muscles and reduce inflammation and loosen everything up. The Intensity Twin Stim Electrical Muscle Stimulation kit is just the ticket for trying it out yourself.

"This is one of those [products] when, if you have acute pain...you can really just put it on yourself." Easy-peasy!

"One thing I always recommend to have at home is a stress ball," shared Lewis. "If you're on a call, doing work, doesn't matter — put it in your hand, squeeze it, get rid of that tension." Could something as simple as a stress ball really make a difference?

Yes! According to Dr. Lewis, a little squeeze goes a long way: "It seems like a simple concept [but] what you're doing is you're increasing muscle tension and then slowly decreasing muscle tension. Increasing blood flow to the area, decreasing blood flow to the area. It'll relieve built-up tension in different spots."
