Jill Biden isn't Kelly Clarkson's mom, but that doesn't mean she can't share some loving motherly advice. The first lady appears on an upcoming episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, and a clip from the interview is already touching people's hearts.

In a teaser for the episode, Biden tells Clarkson what got her through a divorce. (Biden divorced her ex-husband, Bill Stevenson, in 1975 after five years of marriage, and Clarkson filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock after seven years of marriage.)

“This is what I would say to you if I were your mother,” Biden tells Clarkson in the clip. “My mother always said to me, ‘Things are going to look better tomorrow.’ And if you can take one day at a time, things will get better.”

Clarkson admits that her life “has been a little bit of a dumpster” since her split. She reportedly cited “irreconcilable differences” for the divorce, and sources say quarantining in their Montana home with kids River and Remington “exacerbated” issues, People reports. Biden reminds her in the interview that sometimes a breakup can give you another chance at love.

“If I hadn't gotten divorced, I never would've met Joe,” she says. “I wouldn't have the beautiful family I have now, so I really think things happen for the best. I think, Kelly, over time—I don't know how long it's been for you—but, I think, over time you heal and you're going to be surprised. And I can't wait until that day comes for you.”

Fans of the show are praising Biden's encouraging advice. “Powerful words. Our First Lady Is right. My mom would tell me baby steps are still steps ❤️❤️,” one person wrote. Another user commented, “You can’t fake this kind of compassion and empathy- I was like 😭😭😭😭😭.”

It's true—Jill Biden's character is evident in her kind words.
