Dr. Jart+'s Ceramidin Body Lotion Is Saving My Dry, Sensitive Limbs This Fall

As someone who struggles with sandpaper-dry skin, I've always preferred rich creams and body butters, rather than lotions. The reason being that they're typically much lighter and leave my skin craving more moisture. Despite my reservations, I decided to give Dr. Jart+'s Ceramidin Body Lotion a try when it landed on my doorstep a few weeks back because I love all of the brand's other ceramide-based products (especially its original Ceramidin Cream).

As you can likely glean from the headline of this article, I'm so glad that I did decide to try it, as it's super soothing and packs a serious punch in the hydration department — an impressive feat considering how lightweight it is. In addition to five types of ceramides that help strengthen the skin barrier and prevent moisture loss, it also contains five different forms of hyaluronic acid, as well as glycerin, coconut oil, and many other nourishing ingredients that support healthy skin.

While I don't mind a thick moisturizer (Weleda's Skin Food is as vicious as it gets and one of my favorites), I must admit I'm loving how weightless this one is. It sinks in so fast and never, ever feels sticky or greasy on the skin — that, and it's yet to cling uncomfortably to any of my clothes, which is always a plus.

Another reason I dig this lotion is that it's been great at calming itch and irritation. It also doesn't seem to have a scent (at least from what my nose can tell), and that's always something I look for in a moisturizer as I'm super-prone to adverse reactions from fragrance.

I like to slather it on as soon as I step out of the shower and lightly pat myself off so I'm not soaking wet, but still damp. I've found this really helps lock in hydration, which makes perfect sense considering it's what every dermatologist in the game recommends when it comes to applying moisturizer. It takes roughly 60 seconds to sink into my skin, and then it feels like I've got nothing on — but in a nice, wow-I-still-feel-hydrated sort of way.

The bottom line: If you also struggle with perenially dry skin, consider giving Dr. Jart+'s Ceramidin Body Lotion a shot. You can shop it for $25 on sephora.com.
