This downtown Miami hotel just opened a new restaurant and a rooftop bar with city views

At Yotel Miami, you can now take to the sky or stay grounded when you’re in the mood to eat or drink.

The modern downtown hotel, just west of Bayfront Park, has just opened two new concepts: The restaurant Vela on the hotel’s ground floor and the rooftop bar Vela Sky on the 12th floor.

Both concepts serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and are open to non-guests.

The 95-seat lounge at Vela Sky, which is covered so you’re protected from the elements, specializes in Miami-inspired cocktails like the Miami Mimosa (prosecco and orange juice with a dash of Cointreau) and the Beach Bellini (peach nectar, peach schnapps and prosecco). You’ll also find other tropical favorites like mojitos and daiquiris

There’s also a “Sustainable Sips” menu, and $1 from every drink sold is donated to the ocean conservation foundation Beneath the Waves.

After the sun sets, the lounge livens up with DJs. There is also a menu that features shareable items like ahi tuna, blistered shishito peppers, fried yuca and citrus salad with arugula.

Vela, the restaurant on the ground floor, seats 84 and offers classic cocktails and a rotating menu. Expect breakfast bowls and benedicts early in the day, and menu items like gazpacho and seared salmon with quinoa as the day goes on.

Yotel Miami’s general manager Gilberto Garcia-Tunon said that the new additions are “perfect” dining destinations.

“Much like downtown Miami, Yotel’s ethos is centered around a vibrant non-stop culture, which we embraced with these two concepts,” he said in a statement.

The hotel is also just across the street from the First Street Metromover Station.
