Ahead of Fourth of July weekend, California Governor Gavin Newsom shut down bars and indoor operations in restaurants in 19 counties as COVID-19 cases in the state continue to spike. Though the order, which Newsom expects to be in place for three weeks, applies to Los Angeles, Disneyland's Downtown Disney District is still on track to welcome guests back next week.

Staring July 9, Downtown Disney will begin a phased reopening with new health and safety measures based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and government agencies. In a statement, Disney highlighted key things to expect if you plan on visiting, including limited parking and clearly defined entrances to the Downtown Disney District and physical distancing measures like seating and physical barriers at select locations.

Other changes guests should expect? Prior to entry, there will be temperature screenings. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or above, won't be allowed to enter. Guests who are permitted will be required to wear face masks. During the phased reopening, there will be operational changes, including reduced hours at select locations and the suspension of entertainment offerings. There will also be increased cleaning and more hand-washing stations and hand sanitizers.

At dining locations, employees will be required to wear face coverings. To promote social distancing, there will be increased outdoor patio-style seating and tables will be six feet apart. Additionally, many locations will offer digital or single-use menus.

While Downtown Disney will be reopening, Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and Disneyland Resort hotels will remain closed this summer, pending state and local approvals.
