The death of Cameron Boyce this past July has forever impacted the future of the Descendants franchise. The actor definitely held a special place in the hearts of his fellow celebrities and friends, and as Dove Cameron revealed in a recent interview, it remains unclear how the Disney films could continue on without him.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dove said it's not impossible for Descendants to return, but it's hard to envision a movie without Cameron. "I don't love the idea of doing it without Cameron, I don't know what the plot would be and I don't know what it would look like," she said. "But I also love the franchise and I love [director] Kenny [Ortega], and I love Disney and I love that cast. I loved that time in my life." She continued, saying of a sequel, "There is nothing that I can say for sure, but I definitely can say that it is not out of the question."
The interview isn't the first time that Dove has touched on Cameron's impact. She previously told Yahoo that the films are a way of keeping Cameron's memory going, saying, "It feels like Cameron is still here, when you watch it." She also said because of Cameron's involvement in the series, his role, along with the entirety of Descendants "can live forever in you" each time you experience the film.
Fans will have to wait and see whether more Descendants movies end up making their way to the Disney Channel, but in the meantime, there is a way to continue showing your love for Cameron. Following his death, Cameron's family unveiled a charity that you can be part of: the Cameron Boyce Foundation.
