Dove Cameron on How the Loss of Cameron Boyce Impacted Her "Descendants" Costars

Cameron Boyce’s tragic and unexpected death has left an impact on his Descendants costars that will undoubtedly last a lifetime.

In the wake of the actor’s untimely passing in July, his Disney family has spoken out many times about his legacy. Now, Dove Cameron is opening up further about how she and the rest of the Descendants crew are looking to the future, while keeping Cam’s memory fully alive.

“[Booboo Stewart's] always like, 'I am going to go brush my horses—do you want to come over for game night?’” Dove said during an appearance on E!’s Daily Pop, adding that their shared loss has brought the cast closer together. “That's what we've been working on all together as a family is really staying in touch with each other. Booboo said… ‘I want to go out of my way to see you because I don't want to miss you,' and I think that that's how we're all feeling…we want to make an effort. It really reminds you how important everybody is, how important your one life is.”

Dove went on to explain that her Descendants family “found solace” in one another while grieving for Cam, whom she described as the “world’s most singular person.” The 23-year-old added: “He just was everything that everybody says he is. He was from someplace else. He was truly like a cosmic happening.”

News of Cameron’s death broke on July 6, with the actor’s family confirming that the 20-year-old passed away in his sleep from a seizure. Later that month, Cameron’s parents, Victor and Libby, announced they were launching the Cameron Boyce Foundation in his honor: an organization dedicated to providing “young people artistic and creative outlets as alternatives to violence and negativity and uses resources and philanthropy for positive change in the world.”

The loss of Cameron was huge for celebrities and fans alike, particularly those who grew up alongside the star. The Disney Channel dedicated its broadcast of Descendants 3 to Cameron’s memory, with a special video tribute in honor of the late actor. “Everything you are,” the video’s graphics read, “every smile, every laugh, every dance, every hug, every moment, everyone you touched…you mean everything to us.”
