Donnie Iris' 80th birthday concert set for Moon venue

MOON TWP. − Beaver Valley rock star Donnie Iris turns 80 next year, and will celebrate with a March 11 concert at the UPMC Events Center.

Tickets to see Iris and his band The Cruisers go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 23 at Ticketmaster.com.

Youngstown's breakout band The Vindy’s will be special guests, with more to be announced.

Iris, whose birthday is Feb. 28, sang the National Anthem before the Pittsburgh Steelers game on Sunday. He also will throw out the first pitch at PNC Park before the Pirates game on Sept. 23 in a city celebration.

His bash at the UPMC Events Center, at Robert Morris University, will include hits from his storied career, such as "Ah! Leah!" and "Love Is Like a Rock."
