Donald Trump Jr. accuses Instagram of deleting photo of U.S. Army vet: 'The bias has to stop'

Instagram is eschewing Donald Trump Jr.’s claim it played “social media god” by allegedly deleting a photo of him and a U.S. Army vet.

“INSTAGRAM IS AT IT AGAIN WITH THEIR BIAS DELETING POSTS,” Trump Jr. wrote Tuesday, re-posting a week-old image from a National Rifle Association (NRA) event in Indianapolis of himself and Purple Heart recipient Sgt. Omar “Crispy” Avila who has worked as a motivational speaker since getting injured in Iraq during in 2004.

Claiming him and Avila were just “catching up” at the convention, Trump, Jr. wrote, “There was nothing harsh or political in there and as usual it magically somehow ‘violated Instagram standards,’ presumably because I’m in it and that’s too much for the social media gods in California.”

Trump Jr. wrote, “Omar aka Crispy is a vet severely wounded in conflict who has undergone I believe over 100 surgeries to fix the damage done. He’s been a vocal supporter of other wounded vets and an inspiration to so many because despite everything he manages to live his life to the fullest. His adventures often documented right here are amazing and I’ve never once seen anything but an incredible attitude towards life despite the obvious difficulties. This man is amazing and he should not be censored, in fact we would be better off as a nation with many more with his attitude, demeanor, and patriotism. I suggest you give him a follow. The bullshit has to stop. If Instagram can censor a hero like this who the hell won’t they suppress???”

Avila chimed in as well: “Can’t stop, won’t stop. Make Instagram great again. Thank you.” The veteran re-posted the photo captioning, “As taken down by Instagram... Not sure what guidelines it violates But here we go again... Thank you @DonaldTrumpJr for always taking the time out your busy schedule to say hello to chat.”

The first son then tweeted a link to his Instagram post. “If Instagram can censor this great American hero for simply posting a picture with me, who won’t they censor?” he wrote. “The bias has to stop. It’s gone too far.”

An Instagram spokesperson tells Yahoo Lifestyle, “To clarify, the claim is that we deleted an image from @crispy11b – not Donald Trump Jr.’s account. Following an initial review, it appears that Instagram did not delete this post. There are a number of reasons why a post may no longer be accessible from its prior URL, including, for example, if the account holder deletes their account or deletes the post.”

“Those are the main reasons,” continues the spokesperson. “The image didn’t violate Instagram’s Community Guidelines, and we didn’t delete the image.”

In March, Trump Jr. published an op-ed for The Hill alleging that Silicon Valley was censoring conservatism, following an accidentally-deleted Instagram post he wrote about Empire actor Jussie Smollett.

“Shocked, I really thought MAGA folks (who are all over downtown Chicago) were waiting with a rope/bottle of bleach to ambush a rich guy at 2 a.m. in minus 4 degrees because those are conditions where all people go out for Subway rather than order Seamless,” wrote Trump Jr., sharing a related story by CBS News.

When Trump’s post was erased, he sent a pointed message at the social media site, “Are you kidding me Instagram? You took down this post???...I get you want to censor any conservative voices but there is literally nothing in here that wasn’t covered in every news source in the country. It was fine to discuss at length when it seemed to work against MAGA folks but now that it’s apparently a hate crime fraud it’s too sensitive...”

An Instagram spokesperson told website Breitbart, “This image was removed in error and has now been restored, we apologize for the mistake.”
