From Town & Country

Donald Trump arrived at the Capitol to address a joint session of Congress last night, and while pundits today are commenting on how restrained and measured his speech was-there was nary a mention of the people's enemy or fake news-there's another way in which he appeared more presidential than ever: his style.

In marked contrast to the monochromatic extra-long tie he wore on Inauguration Day, under a jacket that he failed to button, last night the president opted for a natty navy blue-and-white striped tie. And-shockingly-he kept his jacket, which was embellished with a ticket pocket, buttoned.

Twitter users noticed also Trump's "makeover:"

Behind him, Vice President Mike Pence and House Speaker Paul Ryan wore identical royal blue ties, and all three politicians sported American Flag lapel pins.

The color red has been closely associated with the Republican Party and blue with the Democrats since the New York Times and USA Today published color-coded maps during the 2000 election, so perhaps the tie colors were a nod to the desire to work together than Trump noted multiple times in his speech.

Or maybe they all just wanted to match.
