Donald Trump Abruptly Walked Out of His 60 Minutes Interview, and It Was Awkward

President Donald Trump abruptly walked out of his interview with 60 Minutes, which aired  on October 25, after receiving what he thought was a round of “tough questions.”

CBS shared footage showing Trump’s back-and-forth with journalist Lesley Stahl, who conducted the interview, and to call it awkward would be an understatement. 

“I didn’t want to have this kind of angry [interview],” Stahl said, to which Trump responded, “Of course you did.” 

He continued, “You brought up a lot of subjects that were inappropriately brought up.” 

But Stahl didn’t back down. “Well, I said I’m going to ask you tough questions.” 

Then, as Trump tends to do, he compared his media “treatment” to his Democratic opponent Joe Biden’s. “You don’t ask Joe Biden [tough questions],” Trump said. “I see Joe Biden giving softball after softball. I’ve seen all of his interviews. He’s never been asked a question that’s hard.” 

“Forget him for a minute,” Stahl said in response. “You’re president.” 

But of course Trump wouldn’t let this go. “Your first statement [during this interview] was, ‘Are you ready for tough questions?’” he said to Stahl. “That’s no way to talk.” I actually…don’t see anything wrong with this. However, calling Mexicans “rapists” and saying you would grab women “by the pussy”—that is “no way to talk.” 

Trump quickly ended the interview after this. “I think we have enough of an interview here,” he said. “That’s enough. Let’s go." He then got up and left, with Stahl offering him a quick response to “Be careful.” Watch the whole exchange go down in the video above. 

“We had prepared to talk about the many issues and questions facing the president, but in what has become an all-too-public dust-up, the conversation was cut short,” Stahl wrote on the 60 Minutes website. “It began politely, but ended regrettably, contentiously.”
