For everyone out there counting down the days until Fifty Shades Darker hits theaters, I have good news: Taylor Swift just teased the music video for “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” on Instagram—and by all accounts, it looks as sexy as the movie itself.
The track, which is part of the Fifty Shades Darker official soundtrack, is a collaboration between Taylor Swift and former One Directioner Zayn Malik—who just goes by Zayn know (ICYMI). The song dropped earlier this month, and according to Swift’s Instagram, the official music video drops tonight at midnight. The singer—who appears to be pulling a Miley Cyrus and doing everything in her power to shed her perennial “good girl” image—posted a short clip from the video yesterday. In less than 24 hours, it has amassed more than four million views, and it’s easy to see why: The video (at least, judging from the clip) is going to be fire. More so, it shows Swift in a way we’ve never really seen her before: Grown up, powerful, and totally in charge of her sexuality.
Though the clip is short, there are a few key shots that hint at the video’s overall theme. In one, Swift is walking down a dark hallway, wearing little more than an unbuttoned jacket and giving off serious vampy vibes in deep wine lipstick. In another, she’s angrily writhing around on a bed as red lights flash around her; close-ups zoom in on her sultry makeup and après-sex bedhead. Meanwhile, Zayn, her fictional music video boyfriend, can be seen angrily smashing things in a hotel room, mimicking Swift's sense of frustration in previous scenes.
All signs point to the video focusing on a hot, intense, and probably endlessly frustrating, romance—the kind that makes for really good film. Even if you’re not a fan of the Fifty Shades series, the video is worth checking out for Swift’s transformation alone. Sure, she’s just playing a role, but we’re kind of liking Sexy Swift—maybe even more so than Sweet Swift (plus, the girl can seriously pull off a vampy lip).
Check out the teaser for Taylor Swift and Zayn's “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” below, and tune in at midnight to catch the video in full. We have a feeling the Internet is going to break.
