Doja Cat recently admitted that she tested positive for COVID-19.
This news comes months after she mocked the virus, calling it “a flu.”
In today’s ironic news, Doja Cat revealed that she tested positive for COVID-19 after initially mocking the virus in March. During an interview on Capital XTRA, she explained her experience with the illness.
“I got COVID-19,” she said. “Honestly, I don’t know how this happens but I guess I ordered something off of Postmates and…I don’t know how I got it but I got it.” She has since recovered and is feeling “okay” after having a “four-day symptom freak-out.” Ugh.
We’re glad Doja is feeling better considering the seriousness of COVID-19. Hopefully, her thoughts have changed since earlier in the year when she took to Instagram Live to downplay the virus. She insisted that she wasn’t “scared” of living during the pandemic before making several uniformed comments.
“I’m gonna get corona and then I’m gonna get a Corona, ’cause I don’t give a f*ck about corona, bitch,” she proclaimed on Instagram at the time. “It’s a flu! Y’all are pussies….You just take some Mucinex and drink water and tea and sleep. That’s all you gotta do. Y’all are so scared of some damn corona that I need a Corona.”
Uh…okay then. COVID-19 isn’t something to mock, considering the people who have died after contracting the illness. Sadly, Doja’s comments aren’t that surprising considering some of the controversy surrounding her past.
Earlier this year, rumors began swirling that she took part in racist video chats, and shortly after, her 2015 song “Dindu Nuffin” resurfaced. The song title is a racist slur that’s popular among white supremacists. She’s since spoken out about the claims, writing, “I want to address what’s been happening on Twitter. I’ve used public chat rooms to socialize since I was a child. I shouldn’t have been on some of those chat room sites, but I personally have never been involved in any racist conversations. I’m sorry to everyone I offended.”
