Wish you could take Fido along for all your outdoor adventures? Now you can, thanks to a new pet-friendly backpack.
The Ruffit Dog Carrier allows dog owners to strap their pups to their backs. Mountain biker Jonathan Rivera had the idea for the pet product while on a biking adventure with his own dog, Mojo, according to the company's website. When Mojo was suddenly injured after a run-in with some broken glass, Jonathan pulled off his T-shirt and created a snug wrap for the small dog so that he could ride on his owner's back to the vet. Thankfully, Mojo recovered, and Jonathan couldn't help but wonder if he could carry his dog along on all of his bike rides.
"The Ruffit Dog Carrier was born from the heart," Jonathan, currently the president and CEO of Ruffit USA, writes on the company's website. "It is a product that is and always will be about your dog."
The doggy backpacks cost $99 and they come in sizes from small to extra-large. Before ordering, you'll need to measure your dog's back (from their collar to the base of the tail) to determine what size will work best. The company suggests using the carriers only for dogs under 18 inches and 25 pounds. Once purchased, follow the instructions to make sure your pup is strapped on safely, as demonstrated in the video below.
So now, whether you're hiking, biking or even horseback riding, your best friend can be right there with you.
